***JAY'S P.O.V***
"Wow..." Elizabeth gasps as she stands at the edge of the hotel roof, her hands softly grasping the cement railing. "This is incredible."
Jay peers out at the bustling city from where they stand high above the streets, and completely agrees with her. The morning sun bathes the busy city in a light that sparkles down on all of the diverse people and all of the multicolored cars below, which seem tiny to Elizabeth and Jay. Other buildings around them, though, are taller than the one they are on, and reflect the sun onto them. Strong winds whip Elizabeth's long, silky, brown hair every direction, the light catching the strands in a beautiful way.
"This is where you were?" Elizabeth's eyes continue to scroll through the landscape of the city.
"Hard to believe, right?" Jay shrugs, tucking his hands in his jean pockets. "I figured it would be cool to go to the roof, and I was right. You should see it at night."
"This is breathtaking." Elizabeth says, leaning over the railing. Jay watches her, his heart catching. Stepping beside her so close that their shoulders nearly touch, Jay smiles. How could Elizabeth be more beautiful than the most breathtaking scene he's every laid eyes on?
Swallowing, Jay replies. "Yeah. It is." His phone vibrates and he wishes so badly to just stare at Elizabeth forever, but he glances down anyways and sees Asher's text: Everyone is going to the bus. Where r u?
Jay clicks his phone off, telling Elizabeth, "We should go downstairs."
"Never." Elizabeth jokes, blinking. She turns and meets Jay's gaze, then. "Okay. Let's go."
***LATER***
"This is going to be a long fucking day." Jay mutters as he watches Asher's lips spread into a humored smile. They, and the rest of the students, stand outside the coach bus, waiting to board it.
"You like your roommates?" Asher asks, his words annoying the hell of out Jay.
"Shut up." Jay frowns, already tired of the mustache jokes.
When the two finally climb on board, Mr. Gaz is standing in the first row, his gray eyes grazing every single person that passes him as he checks them off on a notepad. Asher is in front of Jay, and as Asher reaches the teacher, Mr. Gaz says, "Asher Weston, check."
Jay steps forward, and the teacher glances at him quickly. "Jay-"
He only looks down at his paper for a second, and then his eyes raise to Jay once again, landing on his upper lip. "Wow..."
Jay sighs, his heart dropping. What is he supposed to say?
"Kid... I understand it's hard growing facial hair, but-"
Jay rolls his eyes so far back he fears for a second he might get them stuck as he walks forward, ignoring the rest of the teacher's horrible joke. As he struts past every row, a new group of people laugh at him, point at him, and drag his patience to the ground. He sits down beside Asher, but as soon as he does Asher says, "Hey, let Elizabeth sit with me."
Jay's eyebrows peak. "What? Why do you get to sit by her all the time?"
Asher frowns at Jay, his pale eyes narrowing. "Why not?"
As they banter back and forth, neither of them notice that Elizabeth seats herself in the row across from them, setting a little backpack on the seat connected to hers. She brushes her hair through her fingers, and after some time, she says to the boys, "What's going on?"
