***Natalie's P.O.V**
Natalie sighs as she glances at the time displayed on her phone. It's only one o'clock. She still has five more hours of work before she gets to go home, change into her sweatpants, and relax while playing some video games. That sounds like Heaven... Especially the sweatpants part. Right now, she is stuck in a short, black skirt and a tight T-shirt with the word "Cheddar's" displayed across it.
Natalie sighs and leans against the hallway that leads from the main building to the kitchen where all the cooks are busy. She doesn't want to be here. The only reason she is here is to make it easier on her father and her little brother. Her father already works two jobs, one day, one night.
"Hey, Natalie." A hostess that works at the restaurant with her grabs her attention. "There's this guy that requested a booth that you work..."
Natalie, thin eyebrows drawn together, steps out of the hallway and asks, "Where?"
Through the tables and booths, the woman points to a boy seated in a booth, sitting all by himself. He has curly brown hair, hypnotizing, light, hazel eyes, and a smooth smile that he flashes at Natalie in a kind way.
"Do you know him?" The lady questions her, and Natalie simply nods.
"Yeah." Natalie grins at him, unable to keep heat from surfacing on her cheeks. "Thanks for telling me."
She zigzags through the tables and booths, people and groups, until she arrives at the booth the boy sits in. Shifting her weight and resting a hand on her hip, Natalie says, "What are you doing here?"
"Isn't it obvious?" His smile is uncanny, his thick eyebrows rising. "I'm here to see you."
"Mhm." She isn't convinced.
"Since you won't give me your number, I have to find some way to talk to you." Sam smirks, resting his elbows on the wooden table, his arm muscles stretching under the red T-shirt he has on.
"I have five more hours of work left." Natalie explains to him, her voice smooth.
Sam turns his body to her, his eyes sparkling mysteriously. "I have nothing better to do."
***ELIZABETH'S P.O.V***
Elizabeth wakes up and the first thing she thinks of is: TODAY IS MONDAY! TODAY IS THE DAY SHE GOES TO NEW YORK CITY!
Then, as she gets ready for the day, her mother comes into the room and helps straighten her dark hair. She says, "Honey, you've got to be really careful, okay? New York City is a crazy place with crazy people in it."
"I know, mom." Elizabeth replies, her nerves tying up in a knot. Gazing at herself in the mirror and noticing a few freckles she hadn't noticed before, she smiles. "I'm excited."
"I'd be if I were you, too. But, you need to text me every single day, okay?" Elizabeth's mother orders her, not meeting her blue eyes with her hazel ones.
"I will." Elizabeth promises sincerely. "We are literally going to museums and historical sights. It's not like we are going to clubs and parties."
Elizabeth's mom laughs, her hazel eyes twinkling and age wrinkles at the ends of her eyes winking at her. "Yeah. You've never even been to a party, anyways."
