Forever and Always

I sit there and cry for a while, my shirt becoming stained as they drip onto it.
My sadness quickly turns to rage as I lean my head back, calling out to The Darkness and The Light.
I close my eyes as I'm thrust into Lightland.
I stand up quickly and look around, seeing Claire standing in the corner.
"Where is he?"
I ask and snarl as I look at her.

"I don't know.... He should've came."
She says and looks down, shuffling her feet out of shame.

"DID YOU KNOW?!"
I yell as I sense something is off.

"No...... I just knew something was coming."
She says and turns around.

I go to step towards her, before hearing that familiar voice.
I turn as I watch half of Lightland vanish, becoming complete darkness.

"River..."
The Darkness says and steps forward.

"YOU BASTARD!!!"
I yell and charge, tackling him with all I have.
"BOOM."
I land on top of him and start swinging, not even thinking as I pummel his face.
"I WARNED YOU!!!"
I yell as I stand up and kick him in the ribs.

"RIVER!!! IT WASN'T ME!"
He yells through blood as his lungs collapse and he rolls over.

"What?"
I ask and back up, looking down at him.

"He's not lying River.. They even hid this from him."
Claire says softly and looks at me.

"Who is 'they'?"
I ask and look over at her.

"River, you can't go fight them.
It's exactly what they want."
She says and looks at me with worried eyes.

"WHO?!"
I yell and feel rage fill me.

"The Military."
She says simply and looks down.

"What? Those are his slaves."
I say and point at The Darkness.
"You're telling me, he still has nothing to do with this?"
I ask and clench my fists.

"Yes, you know I wouldn't lie."
She says softly.

"What do they want?"
I ask and look at The Darkness.

"You, is my guess."
He says and stands up slowly, his wounds healing slower.

"My team and I will go get her back."
I say as I think about to the best plan to take the hospital.

"Your team?"
Claire says in a sarcastic tone.
"River, you're a kid and you can't go up against this force and win, you are just a kid.
They have better training, weapons and they have no limits."
She says in a final attempt to stop me.

"I'M NOT A DAMN KID ANYMORE, YOU TWO MADE SURE OF THAT."
I yell and point at them both.
"Now, I have to go get my girlfriend back."
I say and close my eyes, focusing on leaving my own head.
I come back to the real world and look around, seeing no one around as I sit in the hall.
I get up slowly and walk toward the gym, needing to dismiss the kids and adults.
I step inside and see them all just standing there.

"Sir?"
Cam says and steps forward.

"Yeah?"
I say and look up at him.

"You ok?"
He asks and watches me.

"Not really, ALL OF YOU OUT."
I yell to the kids and adults, watching as they leave and don't say another word.

"River.... I'm so sorry."
Jake says as he gets up and walks towards me.

"It's not your fault Jake, I should've paid more attention."
I say and pat his back.

He nods slowly and looks away.
