Sarah and Dylan awoke simultaneously in the road they had fought in. Dylan coughed a little, Sarah tried to deal with a reeling headache.

"Dylan, you idiot!" Sarah yelled, unable to contain her anger, "We were trying to ambush them!"

"I was trying, but they wouldn't stand and fight! You'd think with all the mayhem they'd caused they wouldn't just run away from a fight like that!"

"You can't just assume that, Dylan!"

"Than what should I have assumed?" Dylan retorted. Sarah paused.

"Maybe..." she almost whispered, "Maybe they didn't want to cause all this mayhem." Suddenly, the world around them disappeared into bright blue flecks that quickly faded out, leaving only a black emptiness.

"Now you're getting somewhere," a familiar voice said behind them. They turned around to find nothing.

"What is going on?" Dylan cried, fretfully pacing around in search of the voice's origin unsuccessfully.

"How should I know?" Sarah replied, turning this way and that. In an instant, the elder stood between them, with a hood shadowing his face. They both tried to attack him, but instead ran through him into each other, as if he were a hologram.

"I don't want to hurt you," he said his voice emanating from everywhere.

"What have you done with us?!" Dylan demanded, "Where are we?!" The black emptiness again changed into the medical section of their boarding school, where the girls were being rushed into an ICU. Ema ran behind several nurses, tears pouring from her face as rain.

"That's where your bodies are. Your spirits are here, with me. In Limbo."

"Limbo?" Sarah repeated questioningly.

"It is a place your spirit goes when it is seperated from your body. My kind can willingly leave to this place whenever we feel need."

"So..." Dylan stammered, her head reeling, "So what about us?"

"In about three hours, your body and spirit will be permanently severed, leaving your body to wander aimlessly and do as it pleases..."

"What?!"

"Which is why I won't leave you here for three more hours. But something must be explained." The girls listened eagerly, wanting to leave as quickly as possible.

"I have been banished to this planet by my half-sister, who falsely accused me of my brother's death. I was taken to a laboratory, by those who your system calls Whitecoats, and cruelly experimented on with hundreds of other subjects. I escaped, taking one of their helpless victims with me, in hopes that we might be able to shed some light on the situation." He removed his hood, allowing the pair to look upon him.

His face was pale, and his bright blue eyes seemed dulled by the pain he expressed. Black feathers sprouted from behind his ears, blending almost perfectly with his hair of similar color.

"I don't want to hurt you," he told them, "Let us be." He disappeared, a wind picked up, and the girls watched themselves disintegrate in a bright blue light.
