Sarah went to follow her sister, but Dylan held her back.
"She needs some time alone," she told Sarah, "Give her time." She nodded, biting her lip. She could never comprehend the magnitude of what just happened. How could her totally logical, cool-headed father, guardian, whatever, blow up over this? And attack her sister? Sarah wanted to puke.
Why had Miranda just left? When she was upset, she normally clung to her older sister, pouring the contents of her shattered heart at Sarah's feet. Was it because of her father's actions? Were his lies tearing them apart? Now that their father had snapped, was it only a matter of time before one of them did? Sarah shuddered. There were so many questions she wanted, needed, answered. Some mysteries she grappled would never be unravelled.
Without warning or explanation, Sarah grabbed Dylan and cried on her shoulder.
