Cody looked at the clock. It was 6:15. His dorm-mates would be getting up in 45 minutes. He liked getting up early. It gave him time to think, and to finish any homework he hadn't completed the night before. He knew Shae had trained Miranda the previous night. Cody was disappointed; he had wanted to ask the telepath about her travels with Shae.
In the midst of his thoughts, Ema's alarm went off. She stirred, turning it off and sitting up.
"Morning," she mumbled, half-asleep.
"Good morning!" he replied, "Didn't finish your homework?"
"I did," she began, "I just needed to talk to you about something. Privately." Cody nodded as Ema sleepily put her thoughts together.
"This last week, with the kissing and everything... um. That wasn't okay. I'm really sorry I rushed you into something like that. I shouldn't have." Ema stared at her feet, ashamed of herself.
"Will you forgive me?" Cody looked at her and smiled.
"Of course!"
"What?" Ema asked, "Just like that?"
"Yeah! You're my friend! Besides, there's no reason to cling onto it. Now, get back to bed. You're tired." Ema eagerly did so, pulling the covers up to her chin.
"Thanks, Cody," she smiled.
"No problem," he replied, "To be honest, I think you're really cute, too." Ema giggled. It was going to be hard for her to go back to sleep.
