Shae didn't like the idea of going into the restaraunt. Miranda and her family, however, forced him into it. He ordered a burger, and was done with his meal in under five minutes.
"Wow," Miranda's older sister, Sarah, chuckled, "You eat fast!" Shae didn't reply, and instead stared at his empty tray.
"Something wrong, Shae?" their father asked.
"We're being watched," he replied quietly, not raising his head.
"How do you-"
"Don't turn around!" he hissed at Sarah, "Or you three are all dead."
"What?"
"Don't look so distraught. You're attracting unwanted attention."
"You just said we're about to die!" Miranda hissed back.
"Only if you turn around." he replied matter-of-factly, snatching a fry that dropped from her mouth.
"Okay, now you're just being gross. And gloomy."
"Mr. Oakland, please don't look around like that," he told him, not paying attention to Miranda's comment, "You'll kill us all."
"I know who's watching us," he replied, continuing to look about the crowded restaraunt.
"Well, for God's sake, don't look at him!" Shae ordered angrily, "You've only identified one of ten pursuers."
"What?"
"Miranda, do you know how to use the powers of the Genesis?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" she panicked, nearly in tears.
"Nevermind," he sighed, "Why do I always have to do everything?" He stood up, producing a gun out of nowhere.
"This is a robbery, d***it!" he yelled, "Everybody get down!" Shae was shot by the pursuer Oakland had identified, and he proceeded to shoot him with what the girls thought to be some kind of laser. Whatever it was, the man disappeared in a burst of sky blue light.
Suddenly, the family of three was engulfed in the same light, and found themselves in the car when it dissipated.
"Drive," he snapped, "We've got to leave."
