Sarah stared at the ceiling, Miranda sleeping fitfully beside her. The two had always been close, known when the other had been hurt, understood each other better than themselves.

And now, they could not have been more different.

They were born- no, made- to the laboratory's specifications. Sarah had been given the power of flight. Her sister was a telepath, a telekinetic, and controlled plasma. Sarah tried to remember her science courses. Wasn't plasma energy? There was so much that she thought she knew, so much she had taken for granted. And it had all been stripped from her. What would the two do? With their father uncovered as a spy and liar, all they had to cling to was each other. Would they be able to handle what laid in store for them?

Then, Sarah heard her once-father yell at someone. Miranda reacted as well, now murmuring in her sleep as she tossed about. The voice that responded to Robert's rage merely retorted quietly. She knew it could only be Shae.

Sarah flopped her head on her pillow. It was going to be a long night.
