Chapter Seven, the Ale of Soul Bending
Matt woke up and rubbed his eyes. He sat up, and very carefully in order not to wake John, tiptoed to the bathroom and got dressed; he then put on a clean T-shirt and his favorite pair of jeans that had a large rip in the left knee.
He decided to go wake up John. Matt walked over to John's bed and poked his nose.
"Matt, stop it, I'm trying to sleep..." John mumbled and rolled over.
"Rise and shine sleepy head." Matt sang in a sing-song voice.
"I'll skip breakfast today..." John mumbled with his eyes still closed before pulling the bed sheets over his head.
"Fine, I'll go have breakfast with the girls, and then I'll come back and check on you." Matt said before turning on his heel and shutting the door quietly.
Had Matt looked out the window, he would have noticed the shadow of a boy perched on the tree that stretched outside their window. The boy smiled and opened the window softly before sliding into Matt and John's room. There was suddenly a crash as the chair in front of the window fell. The boy cursed, and held his breath. John didn't wake up.
He then walked over to John's sleeping form in his bed before pulling out a red potion. "Wake up little brother." said the boy. The boy suddenly ripped the sheets off of the bed.
John woke up with a start, "Matt, for crying out loud, I said I'd skip breakfast-" John stopped in mid sentence noticing the strange figure in his room. The window's curtains where shut, so he couldn't see the boy's face.
"Who's there?" John demanded struggling to get up. The boy drew the curtains so John could see him fully in the sun's morning light. John screamed in terror at the face of Gary, before jumping out of bed to his feet.
A horrible pain shot through John's torso as he realized that he was still badly injured from the blast of lighting he had been hit with. John groaned in pain and collapsed to his knees.
Gary laughed icily at him before gesturing to the bottle of red potion he held in his hand and saying, "Do you see this red potion little brother?"
John's green eyes widened in pure terror at the sight of the potion Gary was holding. "I thought you'd remember it from your studies." Gary said. "You've always been a good student."
"Don't you dare come near me!" John yelled. He knew he was too weak to turn into a wolf to defend himself, and everyone else was at the dining hall eating their breakfast. All he could do was stall of time. If only I'd just gotten up and gone with Matt! John thought cursing himself. Gary grabbed John's shirt by the scruff of his neck and hauled him off the floor. John moaned in pain.
Gary's dark eyes flashed as he said, "It's time to drink your morning potion little brother."
He then pushed John against the wall, and held him there with one hand on his torso, and unscrewed the bottle on the potion with the other.
"Gary, please don't do this-" John suddenly gasped in pain as Gary pressed his hand on the spot he'd been hit with the lightening. John's breath died in his throat and his body went limp as Gary smiled coldly at him. He began to feel light-headed as Gary poured the red potion down his throat. Gary still had his hand on John's chest, the pain was unimaginable.
"Now, you can go back to sleep." Gary said throwing the empty potion bottle across the room.
"I hope you enjoyed your potion." Gary said bitterly as he increased the pressure on John's torso.
John tried to move, but he was immobilized as he screamed and slumped to the floor, unconscious from the pain.
Gary grabbed John's limp form and dragged it out the window before leaping down the tree.
