24. Leaving?

Kieran and I didn't mention the kiss at all after that night, but things were certainly different between us. We cuddled up next to eachother when we were watching TV, we sat and did homework together both laughing at how badly we fail. Every day, before school, I would give him a hug before leaving. I always made sure Angel could see us.

I had not spoken to Angel at all. He looked in a bad mood. Bags were under his eyes from lack of sleep, but I don't know what kept him awake

School was pretty lonely, I had no Angel and no Phil. It was like the way it was before, only I couldn't even have my casual conversations I used to have with Phil. So it was almost worse. When Angel and I walked home, I never spoke to him. It wasn't awkward, because he always walked on ahead.

Kieran visited this possible foster family a lot at the weekends. He was always so happy and excited to go over to them. While he'd be gone, many little kids would ask if we were a couple. I responded every time with: "No, we are just friends."

Adam argued with Wendy every day, mostly about being able to smoke or not. He smoked cigarettes a lot and Wendy would not allow it. He craved them, I saw him do it anyway in his room.

Adam had a girlfriend and her name was Trixie and it was a name that irritated me very much. Anyway, he kept asking Wendy if he could stay the night at Trixie's. Wendy said no every time.

One day, Adam went out for band practice with Trixie who was in his band with him. When he got back, he asked Wendy if he could stay out until 11. Wendy instantly said no. But Adam explained how he promised Trixie a great evening.

"Well, she can have a great evening here too!" Wendy responded.

Kieran and I sniggered over our maths text books when we heard this. We both knew what Adam meant by a "great evening". They probably found a bedroom where they could have sex.

"I meant" Wendy gave us an icey stare. "Trixie can stay for dinner here!"

Adam did not seem keen to do that at all. "Um... well..."

"Is everything alright Adam?" we heard a voice that both Kieran and I recognised, but not from the orphanage. We both looked up towards the doorway where the voice was coming from.

There, standing in the doorway was a quite tall girl. She had leather hot pants on that barely covered her ass. On her chest, a black leather strapless thing covered her boobs which matched her top. This clothing exposed her tanned skin that was probably fake. She had a heart tattoo on her should with "T + D" in the middle. Her hair was purple and short with layers. It was really quite messy. It was Trixie.

I had recognised her instantly, it was one of the slut girls at the jewellery stand in the market. I knew she visited Kieran's school for business so that was probably how Kieran recognised her voice.

"Everything's fine. Let me just talk to Wendy," Adam answered.

"Nice to meet you!" Wendy instantly ignored Adam and pushed passed him. She held out her hand and smiled welcomingly at the girl in the door. "Trixie is it?"

"Yeah."

"Nice to meet you, sorry to disappoint you but we have a rule about kids not being in the house at 11. But you are welcome to eat with us now? If you just cover your belly button there..." Wendy was still smiling.

"Oh... well..." Trixie turned towards Adam, then looked back at Wendy. "Sure thing! I'll stay for dinner," she smiled back.

"Oh wonderful! I better start cooking!" Wendy turned back round towards the kitchen and started banging pots and pans everywhere as Kieran and I continued our homework.
