I stare at the blue statue my mother gave me when I was a child; it signifies an act of defiance for me, against my father. Defiance, where did that get us? So many dead, it all started with defiance. Defiance against the government, defiance against all Abnegation, defiance against Factions, defiance against the Bureau, and what was it all for? Hundreds perhaps thousands of lives were lost all because a few corrupt people had power.
So many dead, and what's the point? Al, Will, Marlene, Lynn, Uriah, Natalie Prior, Andrew Prior, Tori, all the government leaders, most of the Abnegation ...and Tris. I have some friends to help console me, Christina, Zeke, Amar, Matthew, Shauna, and Peter help to keep the grief at bay. They helped honor her in a way she would have wanted, we spread her ashes by zip lining off the Hancock building and letting them fly out. It feels good to know that she was there with me when I challenged my fear of heights.

The government is in ruins, the remaining Abnegation are scattered, among the factionless, or taking refuge in Candor of Amity, some have even returned home, but none of the government leaders survived. They all died when the Erudite brainwashed the Dauntless by activating transmitters of their own design, allowing them to control an army of perfect soldiers. They were ordered to kill every Abnegation official in sight. I now live in the house I grew up in, Marcus's house. He hasn't been seen in months, forced into exile from the city, but never leaving it. I don't know what I do if he was seen again, but I would would not return to Dauntless. Too many memories, now painful, it would be too much to bear. I would not be able to go anywhere without feeling her presence. I will never be able to jump down from the roof, without remembering when I caught her from falling off the net. I cannot go into the training room, without remembering when I was forced to through knives at her, I cannot go into the dormitory without remembering capture the flag. When we climbed the Ferris wheel together, when she helped me face my fear of heights, when I held her hand for the first time, and before we left, when we stared at each other and time stood still. I could never go back to my room, where she came in when she couldn't sleep at night, where we laughed, and cried, and kissed, where I fought off her bad dreams for her by holding her close, where I told her I loved her, right before she turned herself in to the Erudite, so no one else got hurt. Caleb told me before she died she told him to tell me that she didn't want to leave me, that it wasn't another Erudite headquarters, that it wasn't a lie told to make me sleep as she went to die, that it wasn't an act of unnecessary self sacrifice. The last conversation we had, our last moment, was spent planning the rest of our lives together, we kissed, and our last words "I love you, see you soon".
