Tobias Chapter twenty seven (continued)

I stare in shock at the sight before me; Caleb and Christina, how is that even possible? Her cheeks turn beat red and her dark hair falls over the side of her face as she looks down in embarrassment.
"Christina?"
She glances back up at me briefly, then
at Caleb.
"Can you give us a minute?"
He shoots me a skeptical look and walks out of the room.

"You've been seeing CALEB?" Christina sets her shoulders back, no longer intimidated by the situation.

"Yes, but Tobias, he's different than
you remember him."

"I remember him letting Tris go to her 'death'!!!!!" Before I know what hit me she reels back her arm and drives her fist into my jaw-HARD."

"Ever since Tris went to the lab instead of Caleb you've been treating him like trash! He's no pansycake, you weren't there to get the whole story. And you weren't the only one to be affected by her decision!"

I take a deep breath and force myself to calm down.
" I know, you were too."

"I'm not talking about myself!" She snaps, " I'm talking about Caleb!

'What?'

"You don't.... You don't get it. He thought she was his last living family member, going to die. He thought his little sister died for him, and you think it hurt you? I know you're screwed up Four, but he is too. You had friends to help cushion the blow, and whether or not you like it you also had Evelyn. He had nobody, until he had me."

She's on the verge of angry tears and I quickly wrap my arms around my best friend to show my apology.
"I'm sorry." I digress, "I just don't want him to hurt you."

"He won't." She assures but I still have doubts.

"I think I should go talk to him." She nods in response and I begin to walk past her until she grabs my elbow to stop me.

"He's not the bad guy Four, he really is trying to figure out what's going on with Tris." I breathe a heavy sigh and accept that none of this is his fault in actuality.

"I know." With that she releases me and I walk to the hallway where he is pacing. Upon seeing me he quickly starts explaining himself, and this reaction alone proves to me he's better than I thought.

"Four, I know you don't like me for what happened at the weapons lab, and no one regretted her decision more than I do, Beatrice is my little sister. But she's here now and I've been researching what's going on with her. We were both grieving, and Christina and I just sort of HAPPENED. I swear I would never do anything to hurt her OR Tris. I won't let our relationship get in the way of fixing your girlfriend.
Just please PLEASE understand that I also need mine."

His eyes are pleading, desperate, and I can tell how much I have been in the wrong.
"Look.... I may owe you a slight apology." The shock is evident in his response.

"Come again?"

" I've been blaming you for everything, but you're a victim too. I'll be honest, I hated you for a long time, and I still don't particularly like you." His face falls and eyes downcast.
"But I don't hate you entirely anymore. I can't blame you for her decision no matter how much I want to. As for Christina, I know she can take care of herself. You better make sure you find out how to fix Tris, or you won't find me so forgiving."

I fix my icy glare upon him and he shudders in spite of himself. Sure, okay, maybe it wasn't necessary for the threat, but it felt needed.
I may be more understanding of him, but he means nothing to me.

The only one who truly does is Tris, my love. Caleb meets my glare with surprising determination and it almost earns him some of my respect.
"Let's get to work then." He states mildly.

Life is crazy!

School is hectic. Even though it is winding down we have tons of projects and tests and SPANISH FINALS ARE THIS WEEK! AHHSFENEJWKEKEKWIW.

Along with that I have a lead role in a musical The Lady Pirates of Captain Bree,
So I'm booked because we only had a little over a month to learn EVERYTHING!!!!!

WE HAVE LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS. I AM FREAKING OUT.
AHHHFJNSWKEKEOEOWO

So yeah. The author of this book has home temporarily more insane than usual due to tests and a musical!

I'm sorry to say that you shouldn't expect another update for a long while,
I have to dedicate every waking moment to this musical after school is over.
But the musical is in the middle of June, so after that I should be good!

The ship name chosen for Caleb and Christina is..... Drum roll.
CALINA!!!!!!!!!!!
