Louis' point of view
The kids had been in school for nearly a week now and except for the first day things had been running smoothly. Harry had finally become comfortable in his class and had even made a couple of friends which was a massive relief as he was finally happy and comfortable In his class. It was now Friday and I was more than ready for the weekend.
'Morning Louis.' I heard Rachel say to me as I reached the staff room after dropping the kids off at breakfast club.
'Hey Rachel.'
'I'm so glad it's Friday the first week back is always the hardest.'
'Your telling me at least Harry's settled in now.'
'That's great Lou.'
'Yeah it took a while but as soon as he made friends he was fine.' I told Rachel as I finished making my coffee.
'That's normally how it works Lou as soon as they recognise people they know they will be happier.'
I nodded and waved to Rachel telling her I'll see her at lunch as I picked up all my stuff and coffee and headed to my classroom.
I loved Fridays as the curriculum was slightly different and they did English all morning rather than English and maths and English was my favourite subject to teach. Then I didn't teach at all in the afternoon as I got my planning time, which I used more for marking than planning.
The morning went by surprisingly quick and just as I was about to enter the staff room I caught sight of Harry sitting on a bench next to his best friend Jake. I was extremely grateful for Jake and I already knew him from teaching his brother last year and he's a great kid.
I sat down next to Rachel when I entered the staff room and we talked while we ate and just as I was finishing one of the lunch ladies came running in.
'Rachel one of your students has just fallen of the monkey bars and landed badly on his knee.' Rachel quickly got up and looked out the window at who it was.
'Louis you better come with me I think it's Niall.' I quickly jumped up abandoning my lunch and ran towards the playground with Rachel right behind me.
As I got closer I soon realised that it was Niall and he was crying loudly while holding his knee.
'Niall, Niall what happened.' I said as I got down on the floor and lifted him onto my lap only for him to scream out in pain.
'Aw baby.' I said as I pushed his head into my chest and started to play with his hair as I needed to get him to calm down before I asked him any more questions.
I saw Rachel moving all the kids who had come to watch out the way to give me and Niall some space but he wasn't calming down.
'Rachel what's the time?'
'12:30 why?'
'Liam should be on lunch can you go and get my phone it's still in the staff room.'
Rachel nodded and took off for the staff room while I comforted Niall to the best of my abilities.
'Shh love I'm going to call daddy and see what he says to do okay. Is it your knee that's hurting.' I felt Niall nod and then Rachel came back with my phone. I quickly found Liam's number and rang it while still comforting Niall who had started to calm down.
