the final show

If I could write to you about every single day, I would. But, being practical here, no one would read that. I wouldn't read that, even if it were my own book. So it goes without saying that I want to make what I can tell you special. I want it to mean something. I want you to be able to understand the ins and outs of it as much as you could, what with not living my life personally and all. And, of course, that's limited by the things I'm actually willing to tell you.

Tyler didn't understand why I was going to write about the final show, when I told him. He remembered the day, but not the things I associated with it, which makes sense. He isn't me. He didn't connect separate events to a single day, because his brain had no reason to. And now I get to explain to you the day through my eyes, the same way I did to Tyler, and hope you can understand it somewhat as well.

I woke up that morning to my phone blaring next to my head. I groggily went up to grab it and shut it off, before I realized it was a phone call. I sat up and rubbed at my eyes, trying to read the caller. Giving up, I just answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Lynn, sorry we're you sleeping?" Daniel asked shyly.

"Yeah, but it's no problem," I sat up with a sigh. "What's up?"

"Uh, well," he hesitated. "I'm sorry I thought you were going to be awake. I messed up time zones. I thought you wouldn't be so close already. Maybe I should just tell you later..."

I laughed, "Hold on, I'll just go get coffee, you can tell me." I walked out of the bunk area, shutting the door behind me so that I could go make some coffee out in the kitchen.

Daniel took a breath, "O-Okay. So, um. I should probably just spit it out, shouldn't I?"

"Yes," I answered jokingly as I started making coffee, taking a mug from one of the shelves.

He took a deep breath. "Okay, wow, okay... Here goes..." there was a long, drawn out pause. "Linus turned himself in."

I dropped the mug that was in my hand and it fell to the floor with a loud clatter.

"He-He... what?" I gasped.

"He turned himself in," Daniel repeated. "He was arrested last night."

I didn't say anything. I just stood with my mouth agape as I stared off into space. What would I say, anyways? How was I supposed to feel about this?

I slowly brought myself to the floor, sitting down next to the now chipped coffee mug.

"Lynn... Lynn, you still there?" Daniel asked, worry lacing his tone.

"Mhm," I nodded, though he couldn't see it.

"You need me to hang up for right now, don't you?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Just call me soon so that I know you're okay. Just... be safe." Daniel slowly hung up.

The sliding door to the bunks opened with a dulled whir and Josh stumbled out in checkered sweatpants and a grey t-shirt.

"Lynn?" he called out groggily. I saw his eyes, even in the dark, rest on me, and his grogginess immediately fell away. "Lynn? Oh my god are you okay?" he gasped, kneeling down next to me.
