Chapter Thirty Five| Baby Showers Bring May Flowers

Now that I'm six months pregnant Kris and I decided it was time to throw a baby shower. It was a bit of a shock because the first time many people heard about is having a baby was the invitation, so I am sure I'll be getting a lot of crap today. My sister and Kris organized the baby shower and tried to keep me out of it but I eventually helped. I love them, but they're lost without me.

We stuck with the same theme as the baby's room and have navy and tan balloons up around the commons space. The cake looked super cute with a little cub on the top. There was little games and trivia set up so it should keep everyone preoccupied. It should be a great time.

The first person to arrive was my sister and she helps us set up.

"Hey Kris, here's a banner. Hang this somewhere high" my sister says handing him a "it's a boy!" banner and I roll my eyes. She never misses a chance to jab at the fact Kris is tall. I finish making the snacks and she makes blue raspberry lemonade. We pour the lemonade in Mason jars that had a B for Bennett on it and set them out. They were super cute and my favorite part of the whole thing.

After everything was set up people start to show up. Eventually Anthony comes and I prepare myself for the talking to I was about to get.

"Alexandria" he calls out and I knew I was in trouble. When I pushed him too far in workouts or I talked about Kris too much he used my whole name.

"Yes Tony" I say as sweet as possible and he crosses his arms over his chest. A pretty little brown haired girl appears by his side and I smile.

"I have a bone to pick with you! You're due in May and you never even told me you were pregnant?! I found out by finding a invitation in the mail" he says pretty upset.

"Everyone except our families found out that way. Don't be so butt hurt" I laugh.

"I am butt hurt. I'm a part of this family I need to know these things" he insists.

"Well I'm sorry we didn't tell you. But it looks like you've been keeping things from me too" I say moving my eyes to the pretty girl with him.

"Oh! Right. Alexandria this is my girlfriend Emily. Em, this is Alex" he says and we hug it out.

"Nice to meet you" she says.

"You too! Would you like to see the house" I offer.

"Yeah! This place looks so cool" she smiles.

"Sweet. I'm going to find Kris and give him shit too" Anthony announces. Of course. I'm sure I'll be getting that a lot today.

I show Emily around the house and she got so excited. She sees our room and the spare we keep open for guests. I show her the nursery and she seemed so elated.

"I love babies so much. This is all so exciting" she smiles.

"I love babies too. And this team is full of them. I can't wait to have my own though" I admit.

"How far along are you" she wonders.

"25 weeks. So a little over six months" I explain.

"That's so cool. Are you nervous at all" she wonders as she looks around the nursery. It wasn't all done yet but it was mostly done. We just needed to stock up on diapers and wipes and other necessities. I'm sure we'll be getting a lot of pacifiers and clothes and toys today so that takes care of that.

"A little. I'm just hoping for a smooth pregnancy but things have been pretty good so far. With spring training coming up I'll be cutting it close on time but I'm hoping to have him when we get back" I admit.
