Everything was perfect. The white chairs had beautiful auburn bows on them as our closest friends and family sat there. Only about 60 people were sitting rooftop wearing bright smiles. My little boy sitting in a tux front and center next to my mom. Our family's in the front and the team in the back as I wait to marry my best friend.
I wore a auburn suit with a white shirt and black tie. The groomsmen behind me in a black suit and a white shirt and a auburn tie. The bridesmaids looked great in their dresses and their hair all penned up. The bouquet of auburn and orange and pink flowers perfectly complimenting them. It was nice and sunny out without a cloud in the sky. It was a comfortable 60 degrees and a perfect day to get married.
The piano starts playing as everyone rises to their feet. Ben stands on the chair and I smile big at him. He waves and I wave back because he was so adorable before he happily claps his hands.
Finally Alex comes into view and everything I thought I knew was sucked out of my body. I try to get a good look at her but tears filled my eyes blurring my vision. I wipe them away and take a deep breath trying to come back to life. She slowly makes her way to me with her dad on her arm and I couldn't get the smile off my face. Ever since the first day we met I couldn't get the smile off my face and now I'm marrying her. Crazy how things work out.
Her dad kisses the side of her head before sending me a wink. He hands her off and she stands beside me.
"Stop crying. You're going to make me cry" she whispers.
"Stop being so beautiful and I'll stop crying" I joke back.
The priest says what he needs to before it was time to say vows. I go first and I clear my throat because I didn't trust it right now.
"From your name to your face to the way you make me feel, everything about you is beautiful. You're eyes had always had me intrigued because they looked so different than any other pair of eyes I've ever seen. Then I quickly realized that it was they way that you looked at me that was what made them different.
You saw more in me before anyone else did. You understood me better than anyone else. You have never treated me like everyone else does. I love playing baseball, but sometimes I can't stand being a professional baseball player. Because like it or not there's hundreds of other guys just like me. But you never saw it that way. Never treated me like the other players and always used your beautiful one of a kind eyes to see things from my eyes too.
I can't begin to explain the things I love about you. I love that you always ask me if I'm happy. You care so much not about if I'm playing good but if I feel good out there. You always do those little things that make a difference. And I promise that they do. In fact it's my favorite thing about you.
I know things are happening fast. In may I asked you to marry me the same day our child was born. We've only been together for a little over a year and it seems crazy to think about how quickly things came together. But when two people are meant to be together as you and I are, these things happen quickly. People don't have to understand or support it. I have you and our son and that's more than a good enough reminder that this is where I need to be.
Marrying the most beautiful woman with the kindest soul. I love you Alexandria. Now and forever" I finish. She wipes away some tears before saying her vows.
"When you found me I was broken. You saw right through the front I was putting up. You saw the bruises, you saw the fear in my eyes, and you saw my cries for help.
And there you were, my knight in shining armor trying to figure out how to help me. I didn't make it easy for you. By the time I met you my life had been so messed up I couldn't believe that a guy like you would want someone so used and messed up like me. But you never gave up on me. I could feel that if I was to ever get out my prison it is you who would be the one to save me.
