Kris

The regular season ends on a good note and we have the best record in baseball. We were felling pretty good going into the playoffs and now just had to wait to hear who we're playing.

Until then both Alex and I were off so we were going to have a family movie night. Ben didn't have much of a say or a care in what he watched. He will be perfectly fine doing tummy time and trying to roll over. He's six moths old now and we have to keep a eye on him because once he starts rolling he doesn't stop.

But life pretty good right now. I'm getting married next month, post season baseball this month. My son is healthy and my wife is happy. What more can I ask for?

I press play on the DVD player because I'm old fashion and place a large bowl of popcorn in my lap. Alex pulls our Rollie Polly onto the couch and he sits there. He starts to babble and I smile. I have no clue what he's saying but it's great.

"I wonder what he's thinking" Alex admits.

"He wants to stick something in his mouth" I tease. She hands him a pasafire and he does settle down a little. Alex relaxes back into my side and I wrap my arm around her.

About halfway through Wreck It Ralph I notice that Ben and Alex had fallen asleep sitting on the couch. We were pretty busy people and I'm sure they're both exhausted, I know I was.

I wiggle out of her grasp and retreat to our room. I whip out my phone and call giordanos to get some pizza.

"Hello, I would like to place a order for a delivery" I start.

"Okay. What may we get for you" they ask.

"Can you guys possibly make a pizza in the shape of a heart" I ask.

"Yeah. We have a heart shape pizza special if you would like" they assure me.

"Awesome. I'll have that in a deep dish with pepperoni. I'll also have the cheesy breadsticks along with it" I say.

"Okay. Anything else" they ask.

"I know I'm asking a lot, but my fiancé is very exhausted and I want to know if you can put our initials in it with the parm like you do with the Cubs logo" I wonder.

"It will cost more but we can do that" they assure me.

"Perfect. Can I have a k and an a on it" I ask.

"Yes sir" they assure me.

"Great. Thank you so much. Can we have a name for the order" they ask.

"Kris Bryant" I say and the line goes silent.

"As in the one who plays for the Cubs" they ask.

"Yup" I assure them.

"Woah this is so cool. And you really are the sweetest dude ever. Your fiancé is so lucky" they claim.

"I'm the lucky one" I smile.

The food comes about a hour and a half later and I set it on the counter. I head to the living room to see Bennett now napping in her lap as she sits slumped over the couch. I lightly shake her before she jumps up.

"I was watching the movie I swear" she yells.

"Baby the movie ended well over a hour ago" I laugh and she pouts.

"I'm sorry. I really do want to spend time with you and I really did want to watch the movie but my eye lids got so heavy. I'm really sorry" she sighs.

"Hey, it's okay. I get it. It's been a crazy few months and we only have a few days to catch up on relaxing and sleep. You were up early with the baby this morning not me. You can take a nap" I assure her and she nods.

I pull her off the couch and she picks up Bennett. We go to the kitchen and she sets him in the high chair to eat. She feeds him some peas and carrots and I try not to lose my appetite.

After he eats he gets changed and put in his play pen. Alex sits at the table and I bring out our food. I take the pizza out and she gasps.

"Is this for me" she asks.

"The heart yes, but you have to share the food" I smirk and she roll her eyes.

"Aw it even has our initials, Kris this is so sweet" she smiles.

"Not as sweet as you" I say and she blushes. Nice. We each take a piece and still fall in love with how good it tastes.

"I have never had a pizza come close to giordanos" she admits.

"I have to agree with you on that one" I nod. We eat our pizza and listen to our baby babble at the ceiling about god knows what.

"You ready for the post season to start" she asks and I laugh.

"I don't think I will ever be ready. But we did good last year and the only thing we can do better is to go into the World Series and win it" I shrug.

"I think you guys are going to do it" she claims.

"Why do you say that" I wonder.

"Because I work with you guys. And although I can do all the workouts you guys can, there's a reason you guys are the best team in baseball. It's because each and every one of you is special inside and out. You have a guy like Javy who is exciting and probably one of the most athletic and agile people I've ever met. Then you guys like Jason who is a defensive wizard. His WAR puts everyone else's to shame. Then there's Anthony who is probably the scariest first basemen ever. I can't tell you how many times I smiled as you made a sweet pick at third and easily throw it to him at first. No one has a connection like yours at the corner. Then you have dexter in the outfield with Ben and damn, I'm getting chills just thinking about what you're going to do. Don't doubt the team Kris. Don't get cocky and expect to win but do what you do best and prove yourself. Prove your worth, what you and only you is are capable of" she encourages.

"I am the luckiest guy in the world" I insist and she starts to blush again. It was honestly adorable.

We finish dinner and it was time to play with the baby. We take him outside in his monkey onesie and we get him to stand up. Lord help us when he starts walking. As of right I will he's just bouncing up and down which was still freaking adorable. He plops down to his bottom and starts laughing when he sees my surprised expression because I thought he fell.

"His laugh is so cute" Alex smiles.

"I want to bottle it up and share it with the world" I admit.

"So Alexis is coming to game one of the NLDS, my treat" she says sitting next to me in the grass.

"Yeah? Has she been to a play off game before" I wonder.

"Nope, this will be her first game" she claims.

"Well I hope she has a great time" I admit.

"I do too. And she's bringing her boyfriend" she continues and I finally turn my attention from my baby to her.

"Boyfriend" I ask.

"Yup. She has a boyfriend" she smiles.

"I'm going to have to meet him" I insist.

"Don't go poppa bear on him. It's already hard enough for her to date again after what she's gone through" Alex groans .

"Her parents aren't here for her so someone has to look over her. And it's me" I insist.

"You're not even five years older than her" she reminds me.

"Yeah, but I care about her. She means a lot to you and therefore she's come to mean a lot to me" I explain.

"Well that's sweet of you. But you still can't scare him away" she claims and I let out a huff.

"Fine" I pout.

We spend the rest of the night finishing up Wreck It Ralph because Alex really wanted to watch it so we watched the second half together. We get through the movie then head to bed ready to make history.
