I woke up, expecting to see the creamy white walls of the hospital. I was confused as I looked at the walls made of steel. The door was made of steel as well. There was a window on the door, but instead of glass, there were three bars.
I stumbled up, and walked to the door. I tried the handle, and found it unlocked.
I walked out, and looked at the hospital gown I was still in. I groaned.
Where am I?
I took in the surroundings of the hallway. It was much more comforting then that room. The walls were made of a sort of cushion type thing.
I bumped into someone, and looked back up.
"Hello, Raylin. I am Jane. I work here at MRC, along with many others," the person says. She had brown hair that reached her chest. Blueish grey eyes stared me down. Freckles dotted her face, mainly around her nose. "Follow me please. Morrigan will explain everything." She took my hand, and led me around like I was her child. Like she was my mother, and I was her kid.
I made sure to study everything as I walked trudged along side this mysterious lady.
We walked up to a grey door, which she placed a key in. She swung it open, and dragged me in. Her grip was light, but strong enough to pull me along.
A lady was turned around, facing a big window. Jane nodded at her, even though she couldn't see us.
"I'll come back in an hour," Jane says.
"Alright. Please get Jennifer and Harley ready. Well meet out with you all in a bit," the other woman in the room says. She was still turned around. I looked out the window. There were buildings reaching as high as we were. A road below showed a bunch of frozen cars. Or a bunch of parked cars.
Jane walked away from me, and closed the door as she walked out.
The lady turned around, and smiled once she saw me. Her face. She looked so familiar...
I brushed it off as we continued to look at each other.
"Raylin. Your confused, yeah?" She asks. I nodded. "Please, have a seat." She gestured to a chair in front of the desk she had. I nodded once again, and sat down. "Before I explain, feel free to speak up and ask questions any time, ok?"
"Ok," I say. "What is this place?" I asked before she had the chance to start talking. She smiled again, bigger then the last time.
"Well, Raylin, we are a company. We are here to help children with... abilities. We've been viewing your life for a few years now." Wow, that's not creepy, is what I wanted to say. But, all I did was nod to signal for her to continue. "We learned you and Sam have gotten to know each other pretty well. I'm sorry for the news about him not being your brother."
"Its fine," I say.
"So, unlike most patients, we decided to let you stay with your family for now." I narrowed my eyes. Nothing she was saying made any sense.
"Um, thanks?" I say, unsure what to exactly say.
"But, that's besides the point. You've been an interest with us for a long time. We've now decided to reach out, because there's something you need to learn to control."
"And that would be?"
"The time. Today your here to help control it. If you haven't noticed, anytime you've felt extremely upset, the time seems to stop, yeah? People stop moving?"
"Yeah I have.. but it was just a dream. I day dream a lot," I reassured her. She shook her head.
"That's what we hoped you'd believe. But now it's time to face reality, Raylin. You're a gifted teenager. It's not just telekinesis. That's the first thing. But you will learn more things while your here."
"While I'm here?" I echoed. "When would I be coming back here? And how would you make me?"
"After school. And it's a requirement for you to be here. And if there is any refusal, then we will, sadly, have to force you." I swallowed, probably loudly. "Now, before we escort you back to the hospital, there are two people we'd like you to meet. Harley and Jennifer."
