"Sam, that was horrible." I snap, pulling my coat closer against my cool skin. He rolled his eyes, and faced me.
"I don't care. I. Hate. Her. And she shouldn't get pregnant with a kid if she can barely take care of me." Puffs of frozen air came from his mouth as he spoke. He shivered, and crossed his arms, waiting for me to do something.
I looked down the road, not seeing the bus.
"I know you want to know our parents, Sammy, but... it's not going to happen. So face the facts, and learn to like her. Jaime is a good person." Sighing, I looked down at my phone. There was two minutes.
When I looked back at Sam, he looked angry.
"Mom wants me. Maybe not you, but she loves me." I had to bite my tongue. What he said stung. A lot.
"She's gone. She didn't want either of us. So can it." I snap.
"She's coming to get me." He says. I shake my head, and face him again.
"Wrong. Mom doesn't want you either." I felt horrible for saying it, but it's the truth.
"You're wrong. She thought something was wrong with you, and sent us both away. It's your fault!" He yelled. I could see other kids on the street. Two were looking our way, and the rest at phones.
"Sam, shh. People are staring." I mummerd.
"I don't care. It's all your fault I'm not with mom. You had a year with her. I didn't. So, R-" I slapped him. He stumbled backwards, gripping his cheek.
I could see the bus coming.
"Sam, shut up. I tried to be nice, but clearly you don't want that. So, shut up, and accept that mom isn't coming. She didn't, and doesn't want you. Get over it." I snapped. Tears ran down his reddend cheeks, and his breaths grew shorter.
"You're wrong." He whispered. I shake my head.
"No, Sam, you're wrong." I scoff, and look for the bus again. I see it this time, and let out a sigh of relief. "And Jaime is a better mom then mom ever could be." I added. "You know she is. Mom was probably some drug addict, alcoholic that had a one night stand for you." I sneered. Sam had it coming.
"You're so full of yourself, Raylin. No wonder mom doesn't want you." He growled.
The bus was one stop away.
"Maybe. But at least I'm not an attention seeker like you. I don't need to cause a scene at every argument." I smiled, facing the way of the bus.
I heard him kick snow, and seconds later felt something wet touch my leggings. I kicked snow back, and saw the bus fly to a stop in front of our house. As soon as the doors open, I climbed in, Sam not to far behind.
The bus was empty. Well, one kid was in the way way back, but besides him, it was deserted. That made me happy. Sam wouldn't sit with me.
I sat in the fifth seat, placing my book bag by me. I saw Sam walk by, and heard him mummer,
"It's your fault."
