THE SHRIEKING SHACK

SNOW HAD ALREADY began falling within the third week of November. The next Quidditch game was a week away, and Aurora began to wonder how the team managed to survive through the cold weather.

Break was just around the corner, and she couldn't help but be excited knowing that she would be spending it with her friends.

But a part of her wanted so desperately to be with her parents.

She hadn't heard back from them since her mother sent her first letter, and she couldn't help but worry.

Aurora sat beside Lily in their Potions class, tapping her quill against the small parchment before her.

"Hey,"

"Huh?" Aurora asked — snapping out of her trance.

"I said your ink's going to bleed through."

Looking down, she sighed as her quill had gone straight through the parchment.

Lily's blue eyes locked with Aurora's unfocused ones. "Aurora? What's wrong?"

Aurora shook her head. "Nothing, I'm all right."

Lily shook her head. "You're my best friend, beaut. I know something's wrong."

Aurora motioned her to hold on, and she stood to her feet. She walked back towards Professor Slughorn.

"Professor?" She asked.

"Ah, yes; what can I do for you, Miss Potter?"

"The ink from my quill bled through the parchment, I was wondering if I could have another."

Slughorn handed her parchment, thanking him before walking back to her seat beside Lily.

Lily quietly wrote on a plain paper, before forming it into a bird. As she blew it out of her hand, it flew towards James and Peter's desk; where James opened it.

I believe Aurora's going mad.

James read the note, before glancing over at Aurora. His cousin was beginning to write down the ingredients for the spell they were about to make, trying to focus.

James mouthed "what's wrong?" to Lily, who shrugged faintly.

"Ah, all right. Does anyone have the ingredients ready? If so, pick a partner and stand at a station and begin."
