Chapter 39 - Peace

Good morning! The week flew by soooo fast. I woke up so early because this chapter was still unfinished and it begged to be written. I am happy that my story is touching so many people's lives, and I also love that people appreciate whatever lessons I can inject. Please let me know if masyado na 'kong preachy, ok? I don't want to come across that way.  

Anyway, siguro naman wala na talagang iiyak sa chapter na 'to. Kung iiyak man kayo, I hope it's finally happy tears na. It's a weekend and I didn't want you all to be sad, anniversary pa naman ng Aldub. Let's all enjoy that and feel the love between MaiChard, hehe, magkaiba kasi yun. 

Just want to share, when you love someone, don't hesitate to share what you feel. I have trouble saying those three words, maybe because I take these words seriously, and I don't use them often. But these words need to be said one in a while, just an assurance to people we care about. Saying them goes a long way, and even to sick people, it can speed up healing. 

Aaminin ko, umiyak din ako while writing this chapter, hahaha. Kasi finally, nagkabati na rin sila. Nahirapan din ako, kala niyo ba? So yun lang, have a great weekend.

Maine could no longer hide what she was feeling. Seeing him this way, a shadow of his former self, made her realize that the angry words they let out were no longer important. She bent down to kiss his forehead, and eased away the creases of his frown with her hand.

"How are you feeling?"

"Weak. I'm so sorry for the hassle. Have you had lunch na?"

Her composure crumbled at his question. Her tears spilled over.

"Ano ka ba? Maysakit ka na't lahat, ako pa rin inaalala mo. Bakit pinabayaan mo sarili mo? I'm not worth all your pain. Masyado kang mabait sakin kahit hindi kita pinapansin."

"Na-miss kasi kita eh," He said unsteadily, his eyes glazed with unshed tears. He squeezed her hand tightly.

"Maine.......ano ba pwede kong gawin para maging ok na tayo ulit? Hindi ba, naging masaya naman tayo? Can we just try again? Please?"

"RJ.......I'm not going anywhere. Mag-uusap tayo, pangako yan. Please, get better muna. Di ko kayang makita kang ganito."

"Tahan na. I'll be ok."

There was a knock on the door. Maine opened it to find Richard Sr. and Dr. Reyes, back from his rounds.

"Ba—RJ, si Dr. Martin Reyes. Doc, may findings na po ba?"

"Yes meron na. Mr. Faulkerson, ok lang ba idiscuss nating yung findings?"

"Ok lang doc, girlfriend naman niya yan."

She blushed a deep red, feeling Richard squeeze her hand.

"Based on his blood test, dehydrated nga siya. Sobrang baba ng potassium level niya, even his blood sugar level is low. What happened, Richard? Did you experience nausea or diarrhea?"

"No doc wala naman. I admit though, I haven't been eating regularly. Busy kasi sa work, then at night tinatamad ako magluto or eat out, I just try to get some sleep."

"What do you have for breakfast?"

"Uhhh, coffee?"

"No wonder your heartbeat is irregular, you shouldn't have just coffee for breakfast. Wala munang coffee, ok? I asked for an ECG, so maybe later, they will bring you to the heart station for that. Meanwhile, try natin mag-soft diet ka, nothing fatty or greasy. We'll keep you here for observation for 48 hours. Magpa-baby ka muna sa girlfriend mo."
