Siya's Pov
Kanishk walked out after some minutes, several files in his hands, and a phone attached to his ear.
"Send me the files asap Devika, I don't want any delays with the presentation, now do it!" With that, he cut the call and started reading his files.
I cleared my throat to gain his attention. He didn't look up but I knew he heard me. I cleared my throat again when he pointed his finger in one direction, confused I looked towards the direction to see a glass of water kept on the table.
Wha...this man!
"I'm trying to gain your attention here!" I stated.
"Really? I didn't notice." He said, his head still in the file.
"So now you know, look at me," I say and he stopped midway and looked up.
"Speak." He spoke rudely, irritated that he was disturbed between his work.
Rude bastard.
"Talk politely to me, I'm your wife, not your employee." I retorted and he narrowed his eyes at me.
"I was polite and I'm very much aware that you aren't my employee." He spoke and I could sense irritation behind his voice.
"Yeah, I noticed that," I spoke and he glared at me but didn't say anything, so I continued. "Are you free next week?" I ask.
"No."
"We are going-- wait what?" I ask stopping midway.
"I said no, I'm not free." He spoke as if speaking to some small girl.
"Then can you not take a holiday or something for a week?" I ask.
"No, I can't postpone my meetings." He explains and looks at me curiously. "What's next week anyway?"
"My parents sent us tickets to Europe for our honeymoon," I tell him and his face went blank.
"We are not going," he states.
This man! Why can't he for once talk to me properly?
"Why are you so rude Kanishk?" I finally ask him.
"I'm not rude, this is the way I am." He speaks as if it doesn't matter to him what I say.
"We are just married for heaven's sake, can't you take some time off for your wife?" I ask him furious at his behavior.
"I can't, this is the way I am Siya, accept it or leave it, I don't care." He spoke and stood up.
"Stop right there," I say and he halts.
"What?!"
"Just one question, I want you to answer it truthfully," I say and he rolls his eyes before nodding.
"What?"
"Did you willingly marry me Kanishk or were you forced?"
And just like that he was frozen on the spot, he wasn't expecting this question at all but man...was he in for a surprise!
I see him frown at me at the question but he did not speak anything. He turned around to leave and I immediately went and caught his hand. "Oh no, you can't go without answering me."
That did it, he got angry and glared at me furiously. "What do you want to hear uh? The truth? Then listen, yes I was forced! I was forced to marry you, if it was my choice I would've married someone else who was less annoying and less irritating!"
With that said he left me in the living room startled. I must've looked like an idiot with my mouth open ajar and staring at the going figure of Kanishk.
He was forced?! Bloody hell!
I had told my father I won't marry anyone if he wasn't ready, but he didn't listen now did he? He must've definitely blackmailed Kanishk somehow into marrying me.
I was suddenly feeling irritated and angry at myself. I decided to call my dad. He picked it up after two rings and his happy voice reached my eardrums.
"Hey Siya how are you?"
"I'm fine," I answer and hear some shuffling on the other side. He must've gone outside to talk, my mom was a sensitive person if she heard anything, she would be worried.
"Now tell me what's that problem?" He asks and I felt a wave of sadness engulf me. He knows me so well.
"Dad, did you blackmail Kanishk into marrying me? I really want to know if I'm going to be spending my life with him."
As I say that I hear a deafening silence on the other side. He was silent for a minute and released a breath. "No, I swear on you Siya, I did not blackmail him into marrying you. I just gave out your proposal and that's it, we just got a confirmation, and then we did a background check and that's that. We by no means forced Kanishk into marrying you." His voice sounded truthful and I felt relief wash over me.
"Thanks, dad, this meant so much to me." I bit my lips, stopping myself from complaining about Kanishk to my father just like every other time I would if anything happened, I would go away running to him and speak everything that would bother me and he would just have something to say that would make me happy but this time I can't.
"Is there something you want to tell me Siya?" I heard him ask and he sounded a little worried.
"No dad, I just wanted to ask that, nothing else." And just to avoid the topic I change it. "How are you and mom?" I ask.
And just like that, he started telling me all the things that happened within these two days. My mom's failed attempt at baking a cake, my little sister trying to tell mom that she is a terrible baker and my dad stopping both of them from arguing.
I couldn't stop laughing hearing the tales and I felt a sudden longing in my chest to go and stay with my parents again. I can't stay somewhere where my husband was forced to live with me.
After talking with my dad, I actually felt great and my previous mood was refreshed and my anger released. Now I know that my dad didn't force Kanishk into marrying me that means it was his father who would've done that and made me and him both miserable in this marriage.
I walked towards the balcony and suddenly remembered Kanishk's words from before, "I was forced to marry you, if it was my choice I would've married someone else who was less annoying and less irritating."
Just thinking about the fact that he would've preferred someone else other than me, pains me.
