Siya's Pov
I was busy getting ready when Kanishk came out of the shower. He was rubbing off his wet hair when he spotted me and stopped.
"You still getting ready?" He asks and I can hear the amusement in his voice as I made my hair and tried not to roll my eyes at the question.
"Yeah, I'm done here. I'll be waiting outside." I say and take my clutch with me and walk outside.
I wore a maroon color saree with a sleeveless blouse that made my skin look more beautiful. I put on a pair of earrings and a bracelet along with pair of high heels. This was my only attire for a party.
I saw Kanishk looking at me as I exited the room and walked toward the living room. Baby Yoda was laying around the sofa but he woke up as soon as he spotted me and came running towards me.
This adorable dog was actually really friendly to me and I've grown fearless of him. I smiled down at him and took a treat out of a box and gave it to him. He wiggled his tail happily and ate his treat.
That's when my cell rang, it was dad. "Hey dad, how are you?"
"I'm fine Siya, I'm hearing you're going to the party tonight?" He asks a little concerned.
"Yeah actually, I was not going at first but then I thought not going meant showing him that he still affects me, which is untrue. I want him to know that I've moved on and his presence doesn't affect me anymore." I tell him and hear him sigh on the other side.
"You're right. I'm really proud of the decision. But be careful okay? And tell me if you see Riya there." He asks me and I hear the desperation in his voice.
Riya maybe have behaved badly but at the end of the day, she is also a daughter and my dad won't show but he cares about her too. And she hasn't even contacted us since she was sent for her fashion designing classes.
Whenever mom or dad tried to reach her, she would avoid them or cut the calls. Mom was worried for the first few months but then dad asked one of his trusted men to look out for Riya and tell him about her. When they were satisfied that Riya was okay they stopped worrying for a while.
"I'll see. But dad don't expect me to treat her like my long-lost sister. I don't think I can do that." I explain.
"I don't expect that from you, just- just try to initiate a conversation and tell us how she is. You know, she won't talk to us."
"I know," I say, and hear footsteps. "Listen, dad, I gotta go. We're already late for the party." I tell him and cut the call once I hear a goodbye from him.
"You done?" Kanishk walked toward me and my eyes immediately zeroed in on his black blazer and pants. He looked like one hot dream. He has styled his hair and looked every bit handsome.
"Yeah, I was just talking to my dad," I say and he looked up from his phone. He looked at me curiously as if waiting for me to say something further. When he realized that was the only information I will be sharing he nodded his head and pointed toward the door.
"Let's go." He says and takes some dog food and serves it on baby Yoda's plate and followed me out of the door. I walked towards the elevator as he locked our apartment. I could feel his eyes on my back as I stepped inside the elevator and waited for him.
He soon stepped beside me in the elevator and suddenly his manly, husky smell hit my nostrils making me clutch my hand tightly. The smell was really addictive.
As we waited for the elevator to reach the ground floor, we stayed in a place where there was silence between us. Not an awkward one but a comfortable one.
I could frequently feel his eyes on me as we waited for the ground floor. Once we reached down, Kanishk waited for me to step out first. I walked out and again I felt his eyes behind my back.
Was this man doing this purposely to stare at my back?!
I looked behind to catch him staring but he realized my intention and immediately diverted his eyes to something else. I narrowed my eyes and saw him looking down at the ground as we walked toward his car.
"You walk slower than me," I say unbelievably.
Kanishk looked up at me amused. "Oh please, I walk way faster than you." He says.
"Then why are you walking behind me?" I asked, unintentionally telling him that I have felt his eyes on me.
"I was walking behind so I can catch you when you fall." He says seriously.
What?!
"And why would I fall?" I ask unbelievably.
"Well, those heels you're wearing make me think that." He points towards my heels.
"I can walk just fine in these heels. So thank you for the concern." I say giving him a fake smile.
He didn't say anything else just stared at me so I turned and started walking again. In the hast of getting away from him, I mistakenly stepped on my saree and was falling forward.
Just when I was about to face plant on the ground a strong arm slipped through my waist and hold it tightly and the other went to my arm and pulled it closer towards itself.
"I can just see how fine you're walking," Kanishk says as he helps me stand straight and looks at me with a smug look on his face.
"That was by accident." I defend myself and he nods his head.
"Of course, now shall we leave? Or you're planning on going at the end and helping the workers clean the party area?"
"You...you arrogant piece-"
"Uh...huh, no foul words in my presence Mrs. Kapoor." He says and opens the door for me and waits until I get inside.
I gritted my teeth angrily at him and gave him a fake smile again as thanks for opening the door for me.
"Don't feel so grateful that I opened the door for you," he says and moves closer. "I did it for me, you see, if you come to the party all dirty and injured, my reputation will be ruined." He says and looks me up and down. "And looking at you, you can't walk ten steps properly in those heels you will likely fall opening the door and get it stuck in your saree."
I was fuming by now as he looked at me in amusement and closed the door once I was settled in. I did not even try to talk to him for the rest of the ride.
Rude Mr. Kapoor!
