Chapter 21

The day passed by, sitting in the hospital doing nothing interesting till my phone rang. Again. 

"Hello." I replied, my voice cracking. 

"Jamie, dear!" I heard my father's voice on the other end of the line. 

"Dad!" I exclaimed, sitting up properly.

"The hospital informed me about what happened, I'm so sorry I wasn't there with you." he said. 

"It's okay, aren't you coming to visit anytime soon?" I asked, hoping he'd say that he's on his way. 

"Yes darling, I got a plane ticket & I'll leave late in the afternoon, so it'll be tomorrow." he said.

"Seriously! Finally, I miss you so much daddy." I sighed, fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall once more. 

"I miss you too Jamie, I really do, send kisses to the whole family. I'll see you tomorrow".

"Bye" I replied, hanging up. Maybe my dad's visit would lessen my depression a bit.

After we ate our lunch that Amy bought us, they had to leave, leaving me & Jessie here alone.

"Excuse me dear, I'm sorry but I'll have to ask you to leave the hospital. Go home get some rest & you can come back in the morning." the nurse smiled at me.

"But... Mum" I said, glancing at the door.

"We can take care of her, she'll be fine, just go home." she said, helping me up.

"Okay thank you." I smiled & shook Jessie awake to come home with me. We took a cab, the whole ride home was silent, except for the constant sighs coming out of Jessie's lips.

"Dad is coming tomorrow." I said, breaking the silence."What? He finally remembered that he has a family, or he only visits when his own wife is dying?" Jessie snapped, staring out of the window with a noticeable frown on her face.

"Jessie, be nice. He's a busy man, he has other things to do & he has to provide some money so we can live well." I replied, looking at her sternly.

"Whatever." she said as the cab parked outside of our house. I paid & as I was getting out, I saw a figure sitting on our door steps.

He stood up, with a dozen of red roses in his hand.

"Jamie." he said, as he wrapped his arms around me in a comforting way.

"I miss you." I said, resting my head on his chest.

"I'm so sorry for what happened, you know? And I brought you these." he smiled, handing me the roses with his hand that wasn't holding mine."You can't be more sweeter, sorry for ditching school today without telling you." I whispered, smelling the roses.

"It's okay, you had to. After all it's your own mother, of course you freaked & went without telling anybody." he said, smiling sadly. I paused for a second.

"Yeah, right." I hated lying to him, but what can I do? I'm not gonna ruin the little thing I have with Josh, I know things between Mike & I won't work out & I don't want it to work out. I have to stick to my plan, I just have to break his heart & that's what I'm doing, hopefully mine won't get broken once again.

"How about we go to dinner together? Tell Jessie & bring Jack along, it'll be my treat, yeah?" he grinned.

"Yeah sure."

"Come on get ready & get the rest ready. I'll be waiting here."

"No, you're coming in & Jack is at Amy & Mike's so we have to pick him up." Josh cringed at the mention of Mike but I shrugged it off anyway, there's nothing to be jealous about, right? Right.

"Make yourself at home." I said as we made our way into the living room

"Jessie,get ready,we're going out!" I shouted in the direction of her room & went to mine to change.

I went back to find Jessie & Josh talking together, not noticing my presence.

"Ahem." I said & both of them looked up at me.

"Ready?" he asked, I nodded & we went out of the door, locking it behind me.

"Do you know the directions to Amy's house?" I asked, riding shotgun.

"Tell me." he said, as the engine roared to life.

"take the next turn,yes that one, second house on the right." we made it to their house & as I was getting out of the car, I glanced at Josh & debated whether to take him with me or not.

"Josh,come with me." I said & got out. After all, it would be good for my plan. After our kiss Mike would be a little bit heartbroken seeing me still with Josh. We knocked & we were greeted by Amy.

"Hey." she smiled & hugged me.

"Hi, we came to pick up Jack, we're going to dinner." I said, holding Josh's hand as I said 'we' she looked at us, raising an eyebrow.

"Sure, come in." she opened the door wider & closed it behind us. Josh intertwined his fingers with mine & gave my a hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Jay!" Mike said happily when he spotted me, but then his smile dropped as he laid his eyes on Josh & his smile turned into a complete frown when he saw our intertwined fingers.

"We came to pick up Jack,we're going to dinner." I told him, looking anywhere but him.

"Here he is." Amy came back into the room holding Jack in her hand.

"Jayyy!" he clapped his hands & held onto my shoulders. Kissing his forehead, we said goodbye to Amy & Mike & went into the car.

"Where do you want to go?" Josh asked, glancing at us.

"Somewhere quiet would be nice" I replied & Jessie nodded. We made our way in the streets, me zoning out thinking about everything that has happened lately.

My father coming back tomorrow, mum getting sick. That was the worst! What's happening with Mike, I want to stop my plan so bad! I know that he'll hate me after finding out what I'm doing, but he broke my heart, as my best friend & as my 'mystery guy' I'm not that bad after all. I have my reasons, just like he had his. I really liked my mystery guy & it's the right time for Mike to pay for his actions... JACKASS!
