Chapter 15

After breakfast Mare left and I went out to the backyard. I don't know where Zander is, all I want is to relax so I went to the back yard; it was big and extremely beautiful, there were many plants and flowers, roses and small trees. The warm breeze carried the soft smell of roses. It was quiet and serene that it made feel very much alive.

Everything was perfect until the weather turned freezing, I shuddered from the cold so I decided to return inside. Just when I was about to turn around I heard it. The sound of huge heavy footsteps slamming down, quaking the earth with every step. I felt it coming in my direction. I looked at the trees at the end of the backyard just to see its leaves falling from the small quake resulted from those heavy footsteps.

Common sense say that I must run, however I couldn't breathe let alone walk and i couldn't scream for help, my cry for help couldn't escape my mouth.

Mere seconds later the trees came down hitting the ground hard, a fog of dust and leaves formed in front of me, at first I could see nothing, then a figure was standing in the fog a few meters away from me.

It had the shape of a rhinoceros, but once the fog disappeared and I could see clearly, I realized it was the same size of Rhinoceros but it looked unearthly it looked like a beast I have never seen the like of it. It looked like it was made of solid mud.

The creature didn't move and I didn't dare as well, it hissed and was staring at me, I took a step backward making sure not to make a sound luckily, I didn't trip and fall. The creature didn't move and I took this as a good sign, so I took another step, but this wasn't a clever idea, for I stepped on a broken branch of tree that cracked when I stepped on it.

The creature let out a loud shrieking noise and I ran, so it ran. And the chase has just begun.

I couldn't run towards the house so I ran in the opposite direction but I wasn't that fast the creature caught up to me and I don't know how but one second I was down on the ground the next I was flying in the air and hitting the ground hard.

I couldn't move, my back and neck hurt so much. My eyes slid shut for a second and opened to the sight of the creature hovering over me.

It opened its mouth, the breath coming out of it smelled of mud, wet mud and it was freezing cold. The creature was about to give me the final blow. I raised my hands to shield my face. All I could think of was how would Jenna take my death, will she break down?!, I hope she doesn't I love her so much I don't want her to grieve. I embraced the fact that those are my final seconds, I was scared. very scared that I felt tears roll down my face.

The creature's head came down and I closed my eyes. Am I dead? I wondered then I felt water showering my feet, so I am not dead, I think.

I opened my eyes, I was blinded from the fire at first then I realized I was holding a fire shield it covered all my body, it was like a dome covering me but it didn't reach the ground.

Water seeped from the edges of the dome falling onto my feet showering it. I looked at the creature and it was now headless, it looks like the shield melted it and the rest of it that didn't touch the shield was frozen in its place. What the...

I stood up shield still there but it shrank with my movement, I don't even know how am I doing this.

The creature was made of mud mixed with water and iced, ICE!!

I heard a clapping of hands and I saw Zander looking at me.

"lesson one. Your magic is not well under control, when you're afraid or angry" he said, looked at my frozen state and my shocked face

"You can drop the shield, Arya" he said his eyes looked slightly concerned. I didn't drop the shield for two reasons first I don't know how, second, I wanted to beat him; and since fire melts ice I can take him out.
