Kat's POV:
The sorting hat had sung about sticking together and ignoring the house divides, for the real turmoil was outside. I had smelt the overwhelming fear coming from the students the moment they all arrived. I was seated beside Hagrid and Minnie as I'm going to forever call her now, but the start of the feast had none of the happiness and excitement that it used to hold. I saw Ginny, Seamus, Neville, and a few more of the older students that I was close to come in and offer me a soft wave or smile before sitting down.
I watched as the first years were sorted and watched with pride as the older students tried to make them feel welcome and cheer them up some as they sat at their house tables. There were even a few Slytherins that were trying to comfort the first years. I was on edge the entire feast though as I kept a wary eye on the Carrows. It wasn't until the end when Severus was finished giving his rules that I knew it would happen soon.
"I expect all the rules to be followed without question. Anyone failing to do so will be severely punished as Professor Carrow will demonstrate." (Sev)
I watched with growing hatred in my eyes as Alecto stood with an evil smirk on her face as she walked toward the Gryffindor table and pointed to little Timothy Wilson, a fifth year that until this year could usually be found with Dennis Creevy. I knew he was too kind to go through anything that witch had planned for him as she smirked.
He is the boy that always makes sure that everyone is happy, and knows how to make them smile even when they're crying. I watched as he stood on shaking legs before walking to the front of the room on the platform. Alecto smirked at him and then looked directly at me before turning to face the students."All rules broken will be faced with the same punishment no matter how great or severe the rule broken. You must learn that disobedience has consequences." (Alecto)
"Professor Carrow!" (K)
"Yes Professor Weasley?" (Alecto)
I held back a hiss as she sneered my last name out, hearing a few of the older and more vile Slytherin students let out a snicker. Her brother Amycus letting out a single wheezy bark like laugh before standing and walking to her side.
"I believe it would be best if the example for this evening was me rather than a student. It does not do to punish students who have broken no rules as of yet." (K)
"Very well, if you insist. You back to your seat!" (Alecto)
I watched as Timothy sent me a grateful look before rushing back to his seat. I catch the eye of Ginny who looks as if she's about to stand but a single glare from me keeps her seated. I walk around the staff table and stand in front of Alecto, preparing myself for the pain that I know will come from the curse.
"Crucio!" (Alecto)
I feel my body begin to twitch and I fall to the floor in pain as I finally start to scream out. I hear their laughs and my screams echo in the room of the Great Hall. It lasts for several minutes before I hear his voice cut through it like a knife, calm but calculating sounding as he drags out each and every syllable as only he could do in such a way.
"Enough. Students you will go to your dormitories and remember what happens to rule breakers." (Sev)
I heard the hundreds of students rise from their seats and begin to leave the Great Hall silently as I laid on the floor. I hear Alecto thank me for the help before her and Amycus left the hall laughing. A few moments more and I'm being helped to my feet my Madame Pomfrey and Minnie. The rest of the staff minus Severus and the Carrows all standing nearby as they watch with worried expressions.
"Well that could have gone better." (K)
"Drink this. I have no doubt you've had enough of the hospital wing to last you a lifetime." (Pom)
