George's POV:

The news from Hogwarts was putting each of us more and more edge as Neville told Ginny that more students had fled to the Room of Requirment to hide. It only made matters worse when we were sent word by Kinglsey that Death Eaters went after Neville's Gran a few days ago. I'm not sure who was crazier in that idea, the Death Eaters for thinking she'd go quietly or Neville's gran for taking down two of them before fleeing. None of us even know if Neville knows yet, but we weren't sure if we wanted to tell him either.

Most days found us sitting in silence, stroking Moonlight when she began to meow at us, annoyed at us for ignoring her. Kitty had decided to leave her after Easter break, knowing that she wouldn't have as much time to take care of her with Ginny staying behind. I don't mind though, Moonlight gives my mind something other than worry to pay attention to, the same way that Mischief does in some ways. Mischief the owl that is, Fred and I haven't been up to pulling any pranks lately.

"Boys, dinner's ready." (Mrs. W)

I let out a sigh just as Fred does, placing the sleeping Moonlight onto the couch, smiling a bit as she opens one eye and glares at me for waking her before going back to sleep. We walk into the kitchen and sit down at the table, and I force myself not to look at the empty chair on my left. All I can do for now is count the days until she's home again. Merlin's beard I miss her.

Kat's POV:

I hissed at Seamus as his hand slipped and he basically poured Dittany over the cuts on my wrists from the chains. I saw him flinch back a bit before apologizing as I shook my head and told him it was fine through clenched teeth. Things at Hogwarts these past two weeks had gone from bad to worse in exceptional time. It was the 28th of April and I couldn't help but feel as if the growing tension in the air was about to explode.

The Room of Requirement had held steady the first few days with just Seamus and Neville being the inhabitants. Minnie had almost lost her mind when she thought that the Carrows or Severus was somehow responsible for their disappearances. She was beyond relieved when I was able to tell her that they were alive. The next news we heard from the outside actually came in the form a letter from Neville's gran, a letter she had someone got to Abe who got it to us.

They had sent Death Eaters to try and use her as ransom to get Neville to behave. They truly were trying to avoid killing purebloods, but based on what I had learned of his gran, even I thought their plan was idiotic. She had told him she was in hiding but she was safe, and that he was his father's son and that she was proud. I knew that it was those words that would ensure he would never give up the fight. Even so, I hoped that the Room of Requirement wouldn't have to have many more students fleeing to it for rescue. Bloody hell if I wasn't wrong.

Everything began to go downhill a few days after the break started. I was chained up in the dungeon for a few days along with a first year Ravenclaw, and Michael Corner snuck down trying to free us both. The poor misguided brave fool that he was, was caught and beaten in front of me. They didn't let me interfere or take half his punishment that time. He was the next to join Neville and Seamus in hiding.

A few weeks with constant torture being rained down on the students led to Terry Boot, Hannah Abbott, the Patil twins, Lavender Brown, Ernie Macmillan, Susan Bones, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Megan Jones, and little Cassie Hensen fleeing to the Room of Requirement for safety. The number of students that sought refuge in the room didn't end with them though, as each day that I managed to sneak into the room to check on them it seemed as if another student had fled there. It was a miracle I could keep track of who was still left in each house to help heal, with all of them disappearing to the room.

I was more than impressed with how Neville and Seamus managed everything in the room though. If food was low Neville took care of it. If someone was injured they made sure to heal them as best they could until I dropped by or they could sneak in some potions sent by Madame Pomfrey. If there was a problem between some of the students, it was brought to Neville and he had it sorted out faster than magic could have. He had even managed to keep in contact with Ginny, other D.A. members that had left Hogwarts already, and the Order using the fake galleons that Hermione had charmed a few terms ago.

But as proud as I am of him and the rest of the students for holding this, as my cousin Xander would say, shit-show together, I just can't help but think that in the end there will still more lives lost than anyone is prepared for. I'm snapped out of my thoughts as Seamus places Dittany on the cuts where the ankle chains had cut through my skin, hissing as the liquid burns before it heals. I swear it had to be a mother created this potion in an attempt to teach an unruly child a lesson about not following parent's instructions after getting hurt or something. That's the only reason I can think for no one figuring out a way to make it where it won't burn.

"Alrigh Kat, any other wounds tonigh?" (Seamus)

"No, thank Houdini's wand for that. And thank you for putting up with my hissing at you, it's not intentional, not usually." (K)

"Aye, it's alrigh, used to is by now. Any more punishments tonigh?" (Seamus)

"Yep, dungeon duty tonight. May not be back until later tomorrow. Hold down the fort right?" (K)

"Course we will Kat, just get back safely." (Nev)

I nodded to Neville as he walked with to the wall where we were making an exit for the time being. I saw him smirk some before walking with me and rushing off to a different section of the corridor. I have no doubt that there will be another recruiting message up before morning. I heard her whizzy laugh behind me before I felt the sting of her spells, soon joined by her brother's. A few minutes later I open my eyes to find myself chained in the dungeon both of them in front of me with smiles on their faces.

"Headmaster Snape will be having a word with you tomorrow morning, but we're going to.....loosen those lips of yours a bit first. Make you more willing to cooperate with him, shall we say." (Amycus)

I hissed as they laughed before I was hit with crucio from both their wands and between the pain and my screams my other senses seem to dull. I can't see straight, I can't hear anything other than my own screams and the humming noise that the pain brings. I can only feel and only focus on the pain that is coursing through my body, not realizing that they've unchained me from the wall, and not caring either way. Just waiting...waiting for the pain to stop, for it all to end.
