Chapter 53

Kat's POV:

I felt as though the world had stopped and was frozen for a moment as we all saw the result of the blast. I heard his heartbeat stop almost as soon as the wall fell, but I refused to believe it had actually happened. I watched as Percy ran towards Fred screaming but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I saw Ron kneel beside his brother as Percy kept shaking him, but I couldn't get myself to move towards them.

I saw the ghost of a smile and a laugh still lingering in his lifeless eyes and on his still face. The world ended in that moment, and then just as quickly it was forced to start again as monstrous spiders had started to crawl through the hole in the castle. I saw Ron pull on Percy's shoulders but he didn't move. I forced myself to fire stunning spells at the spiders that were charging toward Percy and Fred.

Through the constant flow of tears I watched as Harry rushed over to Percy and helped move Fred, but I couldn't bare to watch it any longer. First Remus, and now my brother-in-law......my husband's twin. Fred. I heard Percy chase after Rookwood and I forced myself to follow him back into the main battle, knowing the trio had their own affairs to take care of. I searched for George to see if he was alright, but I couldn't catch sight of him anywhere in the battle. I could only hope that he was alright, I couldn't lose him not tonight.

A few moments into fighting another Death Eater among countless others I heard what sounded like a stampede, though of what I wasn't sure. That was until I turned and saw Minnie, her hair down from her usual tight bun and nasty cut on her cheek, leading a stampede of desks into the fight. I was stunned for a moment by that image, as was the Death Eater I was dueling, until he was taken out by a desk. Quite literally taken out as it stomped on him until he stopped moving. I made a mental not to never upset Minnie ever again, before I turned to face the next opponent but found myself feeling colder.

I heard a scream that sounded familiar to my ears and rushed forward just in time to see Hermione blast Greyback off of Lavender. I see a crystal ball fly from the banister above him and hit his head, and I hear that monster's heart stop beating at last. I glance up to see Professor Trelawny casting the crystal balls down on the Death Eaters. I let out a sigh of relief before I rushing towards Lavender. I hear her frail heartbeat, and perform every healing spell I can think of on her bite wounds. Watching as some of the blood returns to her weak form, praying that Madame Pomfrey can help her in a moment or two, before I rush back to the main hallway.

I saw the trio pause outside as a swarm of Dementors began to circle them. I wasn't worried at first because I knew Harry's patronus was powerful, but as I fought off a few more giant spiders I realized he wasn't casting it, and Hermione was yelling at him to.

"HARRY COME ON!" (Her)

I saw Luna, Seamus, and Ernie rush forward casting their own patronuses as I quickly followed. I watched as a hare, a boar, and a lynx shot forward towards the dementors, stopping a few but not all of them. I close my eyes for a moment, remembering the hours Fred spent with me in the woods to teach me this spell. Then I think of last night in George's arms.

"Expecto Patronum!" (K)

I watched as my fox darted forward and joined the others as Luna spoke to Harry. I didn't trust my voice not to crack and give way to despair after the loses we'd suffered so I left it to her. A moment later and Harry casts his own Stag forward sending the dementors scattering.

"Can't thank you enough, you just saved--" (R)

We watched in horror as Ron was interrupted as yet another Giant burst through the trees of the forbidden forest, attempting to stomp on anything that was moving. We all scattered and it wasn't until I reached the inner hall that I saw the trio ran a different direction outside. I had little time to wonder at it though as I caught scent of roses and salt water a few feet from me.
