The dress was lilac.
"It's a little big in the chest, Silvia, but it's okay, we can stuff some toilet paper in there," Sienna said as she fluffed the skirt of her best friend's gown.
"No, that's alright," Silvia said, running a hand down the lilac satin. "Can't we just pin it in the back to make it tighter?"
Sienna stood in her baby blue ballgown and studied Silvia's dress. She placed her hands on her slim waist and sucked in her bottom lip as she though. "I suppose so, but I would think Peter would like you better with a little more... ba-bang."
Silvia rolled her eyes. "Sienna, for the last time, Peter and I are going strictly as friends. He isn't interested in any 'ba-bang'. I don't even know what that means."
"Don't worry about it." Sienna began pinning the back of the dress. "Let's get out there. Lydia, Blaire, Calypso, and Dixie all promised to wait for us with their dates."
Silvia turned to Sienna with a look of confusion. "Do they all have dates?"
Sienna nodded quickly. "Lydia's going with Remus, as you know."
"Of course."
"The girls forced Thaddeus to ask Blaire. James asked Calypso. Dixie's going with Arlin."
"Awesome." Silvia took one last glance of herself in the mirror. Her hair had been poorly curled and and held together by a thick layer of hairspray. She didn't mind. Sienna and Lydia had done the same thing with their hair, and they all looked equally awful.
It was 1974, it wasn't a great time for hair.
The girls stepped out of the Common Room to find all of their friends accompanied by their dates as well as Sirius and Peter. Sirius immediately hurried over to Sienna and slipped an arm around her waist. Peter smiled at Silvia and offered his arm. She took it but kept a safe distance from him as they walked with the others into the Great Hall, which had been transformed into a ball room. A band was positioned at the front of the hall playing What is Life by George Harrison. Silvia smiled. "This is one of my mother's favorite songs," she told Peter.
"Oh, groovy. Isn't she a muggle?"
Silvia didn't respond. The song faded out as two girls dressed in stereotypical witches clothes, accompanied by knee-high black boots and pointed hats appeared with the band of men. The Great Hall cheered. She turned to Sienna only to find that Sienna and Sirius had already hit the dance floor. "Who are those girls?" she asked Peter.
Peter looked at her, aghast. "Who are those girls? Silvia, that's Toil and Trouble!"
"Only the hottest girls to ever attend Hogwarts." James appeared with Calypso holding lovingly onto his arm. "Of course, second hottest, only to Calypso."
"C'est vrai," Calypso added. "I've won six Queen Witchie beauty pageants in France. Pandora hasn't won a single one. One year, for her special talent, Pandora picked her nose in front of the judges."
James laughed. "What a charmer Calypso is. Possibly the most beautiful girl I have ever met." He spoke louder than he needed to. Silvia noticed Lily standing nearby and sighed.
Toil and Trouble played some of their hits. The girls all danced with each other as well as their dates. It was safe to say that everyone was having a good time until Toil and Trouble announced that they were about to play a slow song. Silvia awkwardly turned to Peter, who took her hand is his own awfully clammy one. She turned to watch Remus and Lydia, who laughed together as they stepped on each other's toes before turning back to Peter, whose face was uncomfortably close to hers. He stared at her, terrified.
"Are you having fun?" she asked.
"Yes," he squeaked, the lie was obvious. He kept looking over her shoulder as the two swayed back and forth, face growing redder with every glance.
"What are you looking at?" She asked, about to turn around. Before she had the chance, he pressed his lips quickly against hers. She immediately pulled back and pushed him away. "What the bloody hell do you think you're doing?" she demanded.
"I-I'm sorry, was that wrong?" he stammered.
"Yes!" Silvia cried. "That was so wrong. Peter, do you like me?"
His face reddened. "No! God, no, never. I could never like like you."
"Then why did you just snog me?"
Peter fidgeted around before responding. "I thought that that was what you do at dances."
"Why would you think that?" Silvia demanded, voice becoming more shrill with each question. A couple of people turned to watch.
"W-w-well, S-Sirius and Sienna are g-going as friends and they're s-snogging." He twitched and pointed a stubby finger past Silvia's shoulder.
She spun around quickly to discover Sirius and Sienna at a table twenty feet away, arms wrapped around each other, one mouth exploring the other's.
"Sirius Orion Black, what in the name of Gellert Grindelwald do you think you're doing to her?" she cried, pulling Sienna free from his grasp. "Sienna, are you okay?"
Sienna pushed Silvia's hands away. "I was just fine until you came over here." She crossed her arms and stood up.
The two stared at each other. Silvia's face fell. "What do you mean?"
"Sirius is my boyfriend now," Sienna growled before storming away.
