Chapter Eight: Reunion

"What do you think of the name Liliana Acacia?" Paul asked Heidi when she woke up.

"Oh, that's beautiful," she said, smiling. "Who chose the middle name? Was it Evan?" She asked, giggling.

Paul nodded.

"Trust him to choose a tree name," Heidi said. "But I love it. Liliana Acacia Heere."

Connor held Liliana in her arms. "She's beautiful," he said.

Michael was looking over Connor's shoulder at Liliana.

"How's my little future sister in-law?" He said, smiling. Connor chuckled.

"Has Evan seen her?" Heidi asked.

"Yep," Jeremy said. "He came in about an hour ago. He had to go back to his room, though."

Heidi nodded. "I can't wait to see him again..." she mumbled, nearly inaudible.

"Can I hold her now?" Michael asked Connor.

"No," he responded, still smiling at Lily.

"But you've been holding her for fifteen minutes!" Michael exclaimed.

"I know. I'll make it longer if you keep complaining," he said. "Actually, I'll make it longer anyway."

Heidi giggled a bit.

"But she's my future sister in-law! I'd like to hold her for a bit," Michael whined.

"Hey, she's my future sister in-law too. Wait your turn."

If Evan were there, Michael imagined his face would be completely red, like a tomato.

"Connor, let Michael hold Lily," Jeremy said, laughing.

Connor pouted and reluctantly passed Lily over to Michael.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow," he said dramatically.

Jeremy and Michael laughed.

Michael brushed a finger delicately across Lily's cheek.

"My turn," Connor said, reaching his arms out to hold her.

"No!" Michael backed away. "I've been holding her for five seconds, if that!"

"Exactly! That's too long!"

The whole time, Jeremy was laughing.

Jared poked his head through the door. "So can we see her too or what?"

"Five more minutes!" Michael said, sounding exasperated.

It seemed like five seconds, but five minutes passed and Jared, Isabel, Alana and Zoe walked in.

"Meet Liliana Acacia Heere," Michael told them, handing her over to Jared.

Jared carefully took her. "Hello there, Plant Child."

"Plant Child?" Jeremy asked, giggling.

"Lily Acacia. Both are plants. Plant Child," Jared responded simply.

"Please don't call her that again," Jeremy said, laughing.

Jared sighed and looked at Lily. "Your brother is no fun, Plant Child."

Jeremy rolled his eyes.

They all took turns to hold Liliana.

Connor, of course, held her a few times.
