Sharing a secret - Remus Lupin

Chapter 14

Lily and Marlene were watching the group with amusement especially when they saw 3 of the 4 boys take a step back, but Remus wasn't budging as he looked at the angry girl in front of him. 'We did it because we care for you' he said sharply, 'I appreciate the gesture but don't treat me like I am some helpless little girl. I hate it when people do that' she said still angry.

Remus fell silent when he saw her normally warm and kind eyes filled with anger and fire, after a long silence Selena turned around and walked into the common room leaving the others behind.

Shortly after her Lily and Marlene barged into their dorm and started laughing and clapping 'That was amazing Selena' Marlene cheered 'I know they meant well, but it really ticked me off.' She sighed 'You are rather scary and intimidation for such a short girl' Lily laughed at her short friend.

Selena found herself unable to sleep and decided to go and read in the common room, she grabbed one of her books and headed down until she heard voices 'It will be fine, she will come around' Sirius stated, 'I don't know, we really pissed her of' Remus said, 'Yeah you did' Selena said walking into the room and towards the boys, 'But I think I made my point about being able to protect myself' she continued.

The boys looked confused 'you did scare us' Sirius admitted laughing 'you made your point' James nodded 'we are very sorry Selena' Remus said still looking down 'As long as you guys start behaving more as friends and less as bodyguards we're fine' she smiled plopping on the couch next to Remus.

Remus looked at the girl next to him and saw the comforting warmth in her eyes again and showed her a lopsided smile.

Even though it cost Remus a lot of effort, the boys didn't swarm around Selena all the time, of course they walked together to classes but he tried to give her the space she needed. But as the full moon neared he felt drawn to her even more than usual, Selena on the other hand noticed than the boys gave her space and saw how hard it was on Remus with the full moon just a day away.

Normally Remus felt extremely tired and agitated around the full moon but this time he felt fine, the boys noticed the normal behaviour and also noticed that Remus had the urge to lash at everybody who came to close to Selena.

The evening of the full moon the friends were hanging around in the common room, Selena was squeezed between Remus and Sirius on the small sofa and the moment Sirius jokingly wrapped his arm around Selena's shoulders Remus let out a loud growl startling the rest of the group.

'Are you okay Rem?' Selena asked the boy who desperately needed her attention, she knew how to help him, but she needed to find out a way to do it without revealing her secret to the others.

She placed her hands on his forehead and then on his cheeks 'you don't seem to run a fever though' she stated while Remus went red-hot under here soft touch, 'No I feel fine, just a little tired' Remus managed to get out and Selena nodded 'I can get that, but tomorrow we can all sleep in. Maybe it's for the best if you went to sleep early tonight as well' Selena said while standing up and stretching 'I know I am' she continued 'Night Lena' the boys said in unison, 'Buenas noches' she smiled as she walked upstairs.
