🔃Megan's POV🔃
It has been almost two weeks since I had that conversation with James. After that day, we decided to continue our relationship and James promised that we would be able to meet every weekend. I didn't know what to do, but to agree. I have been speaking to him everyday for two weeks, but haven't seen him even once. I've met Chase, as he came down to see Ems and even met Ems's parents and they personally loved him. DM also came to town for Corrie, but unfortunately, Corrie wasn't ready for the parent meeting because she was sure after meeting her crazy parents, DM would no longer be associated with her.
As for me, I have met my parents only once, or mostly my mother. Just bumped into her as she was coming in at nine a.m. while I was getting out. It went down like this...
"Mother." I greeted her plainly.
She gave a long yawn. Her blonde hair was a mess and she was definitely not dressed like a forty-five-year-old in that skimpy gold sleeveless dress. Her make-up was smudged and there was a bottle of Vodka in her hand. "Megan."
"Glad you still remember my name." I muttered.
"What are you doing home?" She asked, chucking her high heels on the ground.
"I live here, in case you didn't notice."
"Don't be arrogant with me. Just like your fuckin' piece of shit of a father."
I ignored her comment. "I'll leave you to your pathetic state."
I walked out and slammed the door behind me.
James couldn't come down to see me, and I knew he had his reasons. He was busy with his family, and his sister was back in town with her boyfriend. So, things were crazy, as he put it. I considered driving down to see him but I don't know why, Ems and Corrie suggested against it. I was done with my college packing, and currently Corrie was taking Ems and me for an eight-hour-long drive to check out some apartment. We have been driving for almost eight hours, so we should be reaching any moment.
"I swear, I'm gonna kill you for this drive." I muttered to Corrie from the back seat, munching on my Hershey's.
"Yeah, yeah. You're gonna kiss my ass after this drive." She retorted. Ems gave her a light smack on the arm from the front seat and a glare. I wonder why.
"Anyway, isn't this the way to my college?" I asked, suspiciously.
"No. It isn't. Your college is a little father away." Ems clarified. Why did I have a feeling that she was lying?
"Yeah, fifteen minutes away, Ems."
But before I could ask more questions, Corrie interrupted us. "Oh, look! We're here! Let's get out now." She parked the car in front of an apartment building which seriously looked amazing from out. Getting out of the car, all the three of us headed in. Corrie pressed '5' in the lift, which looked like it was the last floor. As the lift made a ding sound, indicating we reached the destination, I got out but looked back to see Corrie and Ems hadn't.
"What happened?" I asked, putting a hand on the lift, to stop the doors from closing.
"Oh, look! I forgot my phone! It must've dashed under the seat or something. I should go get it." Ems exclaimed in horror, rumbling through her purse.
"Do you want us to come?" I asked.
"Nah! I'll just take Corrie with me. You go on. See the apartment and we'll be right back!" Ems chirped.
"Okay, fine with me. Go on, Megan. Go." Corrie shooed me away. Narrowing my eyes I stepped back and watched the doors suspiciously close in front of their giddy faces. I think it was my imagination but I heard Corrie say, 'get some action' before the door closed. I wonder why were they acting so strange.
