🔃Megan's POV🔃
"How're you doing there, mom-to-be?" I asked Ems, as I plonked on the couch.
"We both are perfect." Ems smiled, rubbing her hand over her stomach. "I just wish Chase would've been here."
I chuckled internally. Chase had to go for a sudden meeting and so he couldn't make it tonight, but little did she know that he was on his was right now. "Ems, he'll be here tomorrow, then you can have him all to yourself."
"Yeah." She smiled.
"Sup, mama?" Corrie winked as she sat on the other side of Ems.
"Mama-to-be." I corrected her.
"Yeah, okay. Anyway, how does it feel to be so close to your due date?" She inquired.
"Terrifying." Ems admitted with a nervous chuckle. Okay, you must be wondering, 'what in the world is happening', right? Let's explain. It has been almost five years, since that summer road trip and college began. The girls and I have been closer than ever and even the boys never changed. Surprisingly, our Ems gave us surprising news a few months back, that she was pregnant with Chase's baby. And I know what you're thinking, that are they married? No, they aren't. They were thinking of marriage after the baby.
Corrie and DM...never changed. They are very much together, even though they split up for a while back then, because after college Corrie wanted to go to Paris for her art and they thought a break-up was ideal. But Corrie couldn't survive Paris without her Max, and so she came back and since then, they are together.
As for me, James and I...well, let's just say that...it worked out pretty damn well. I cannot describe the past few years, because they were the best of my life. Sure, we both had fights and I even pushed him to sleep in the guest room for a week when we had a full-on fight going on but then one night, I just couldn't sleep on my own, and so I went to the guest room and snuggled into him and that's how it became our tradition to say sorry to one another. James looks even better than before and he is doing exceptionally well in his dad's business while I am an assistant director, finding my way to success.
Today, five years later, we all are in James and my house, a party hosted by us for Ems and Chase. Except for our group, there was Chase's and Max's sister while James's sister is honeymooning in Bora Bora. Her name is Eve and we both are really close. Yes, I was her maid of honour while James was her husband, Ian's best man. You must be wondering about Aiden. He got himself a girlfriend, and he is happy with her and away from our parents, one of the most successful software-developer. Smarty-pants.
I was pulled away from my thoughts by the bell ringing. I knew it was Chase. "I'll get that." I smiled and went to open the door.
"Chase!" I whispered squealed as I gave him a tight hug.
"It's good to see you." He said, pulling away.
"You too." I beamed. "C'mon, she's waiting."
"Does she know?" He asked, horrified.
"No, she doesn't, lover boy."
I chuckled while he followed me to the sitting room.
"Who is it?" Ems asked and I smiled as I moved to the side to reveal Chase.
"Chase!" Ems squealed getting up to hug him. He held her right and then swooped her into a kiss. Corrie and I groaned.
"They always need the PDA." Corrie groaned covering her eyes.
"Let's get out." I suggested, pulling Corrie, and leaving them together, since they didn't seem to pay heed to us.
We both went towards the kitchen, where James and Chase's younger sister, Aimee, who just went to college were cooking.
