Sick?

The other day my friend was talking about mental illness and used words like 'mentally sick' and 'mentally ill' and when I heard those words I couldn't help but to feel strange, upset or offended even. I didn't say anything to her but when I got home I did some googling (of course).

I found that others were saying that there is a big difference between 'you are' something and 'you have' something. Which I believe is very true. I for one, who has a mental health disorder, prefer the terms 'I have a mental health disorder/condition' as appose to 'I am mentally ill/sick'.

Here are some links to sites about the different terminology: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/01/160126111942.htm

A/N: What do you think about the difference in how you word things? And am I overreacting?
