Eve's POV.
I lazily walk downstairs and immediately see Dad in the kitchen, cooking what smells like bacon. Daxton was already seated at the counter, and I slide into the bar stool next to him.
"Morning!" I smiled big at Daxton, and he just stared at me blankly, then went back to eating his pancakes. "Well, good morning missy. What would you like to eat today?" Dad greets, sliding the now cooked bacon onto the plate set beside him. "Oh, and can you get the milk from the fridge for your brother?" He adds. It sounded more like a demand than a question.
I grabbed the milk from the fridge and slid it across the counter-top. "I actually made plans today."
"This early? With who?"
"... Sky and Aili. We planned to go out for breakfast, then go dress shopping."
"Dress shopping? For prom?"
"Mm hmm." I nod.
"You could save a couple hundred bucks and just wear your mom's dress."
I freeze and turn my head to look at him. "Mom went to prom?"
"No, she never experienced it. You know that blue dress she wore in our wedding photos? You should wear that one." I nod again. One time Dad showed me the special photo album with all of his and Mom's wedding pictures. Mom was wearing a beautiful Tiffany blue A-line dress, with little flowers, which looked like daisies, spread throughout from the neckline to the hem of the skirt. Her hair was curled, her brown locks fell up to her collarbone. She also had a flower pinned on the side of her hair, pulling back parts of her side bangs. Dad was wearing a traditional Chinese uniform, royal blue and gold detailing. Mom was caked with makeup, she was literally the color of snow, but obviously a bit tanner. Dad was about the same skin tone as now, pretty tanned.
I grabbed my keys and wallet, making sure I didn't forget anything else. "Maybe, let me check out some other options, and if I don't like any of them I'll wear Mom's dress." I concluded, then bid them goodbye as I shut the door behind me.

"You're uh, hungry... aren't ya, Eve?" Sky asks, as I stuff more pancakes into my mouth. I awkwardly looked up while swallowing. "Leave me alone!" I give her a look, and finished up my pancakes.
"So, only five more weeks 'till prom. Do you guys have dates yet?" Aili asks. I peer over at Sky and she does the same to me and we just end up having a conversation with just our eyes;
"Do you have a date??"
"Psh, no, I don't even have a dress yet, let alone have a date."
"Well, you're gonna have a dress by the end of today."
"And so will you."
"Hey, you know I'm setting my budget to thirty bucks max, right?"
"Sky, this is prom we're talking about not a frat party."
I finally turn to Aili and shake my head no. Aili frowns back at me, then turns her head at Sky and gets the same response.
