Eve's POV.
I walked into Barnes and Noble with my book that I was currently reading clutched in my hand. I made my way over to a small sitting area where a couple of elders were also sitting down, enjoying some classics.
I sat a couple seats away from them so they still had their privacy and space. I opened the book to the last chapter I bookmarked.
"Hey Evelyn." I looked up from my book and Thomas was making his way towards me.
"Oh, hi Thomas. How are you?"
"I'm doing okay, you?"
"Well, my pet bunny passed away this morning, so... I don't know."
"Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss."
"Thank you. Anyways, what are you doing here? Don't you have practice?"
"What?"
"Oh, sorry to assume, but aren't you on the football team?"
"Oh, yeah. JV. But practice was canceled last minute so I thought I'd stop by. Then, I ran into you."
"Ah. Well, I'd recommend something to you, but I don't know if you have the same book taste as me." I chuckled.
"Nah, it's fine. I'm more into comics anyway."
"Have you ever read a book in your life?"
"Of course I have! Like, the first three Harry Potter books in the third grade..."
"Right... you know, Sky loves Harry Potter."
"Who's Sky?"
"We know her as Sky, you know her as Savannah. Same person."
His face flushes pink. "She likes Harry Potter...?"
"Yeah, she does." I put my bookmark back where it was and shut my book. Setting it down, I stood up. "I'm going to the café. You can come with if you want, but it'll be quick."
"I'll stay here." He smiles.
"Okay."
There was no line so I quickly ordered a chocolate muffin and two strawberry lemonades and headed back to where Thomas was.
"Where The Mountain Meets The Moon," He reads, "What's that about?"
I hand him the other cup of strawberry lemonade as he hands me back my book. "Ah, well it's about this young girl who is fascinated by her father's stories and one day packs up to go on a journey to Never-Ending mountain (from her father's story) to find the Old Man of the Moon (also from her father's story), whom she hopes will change her family's fortune." I summarized as best as I can.
"Wow."
"Yup." I replied, popping the "p."
"So anyways, what are you doing for prom?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well I mean, you have a date or what?"
