Chapter 23

Eve's POV.

"Will you go to prom with me?"

All of us stood there, looking at Becca with anticipation. I glanced at Sky, who was tapping her fingers against her thigh nervously, and Thomas who had his arms crossed with an anxious look on his face. Drew was tightening his grip on the teddy bear, and Becca didn't answer soon, the teddy bear would have its sides ripped apart; No one wants to see that.

Becca's lips curve up into a smile. "Yes." She takes the teddy bear and wraps her arms around Drew, and he hugs her back while all of us cheer with excitement. We all join the hug and squish Becca and Drew even closer; Don't know if it was intended, but we were just super happy for them in that moment.

"Hey, what time is it?" Drew asked, looking very relieved.

Thomas pulled out his phone. "Almost 7:00."

"We should get going." Sky suggests, and we follow her out of the museum, with smiles on all of our faces. Especially Drew's.

While walking out, I had a realization. SHIT. I pull out my phone to see if I had any miss calls or text messages from Eleanor;

Hey the partys over - 6:12 P.M.

you can come pick me up now - 6:17 P.M.

Eve - 6:22 P.M.

Eve - 6:22 P.M.

Eve - 6:28 P.M.

DUDE - 6:31 P.M.

My mind runs in circles as I catch up to the others, having fallen behind while glancing down at my phone. "Guys, I totally forgot that I was left with the responsibility to pick up my cousin from her friend's reunion party."

"Oh dang, we were gonna go grab something to eat." Sky replied as everyone nodded along.

"Red Lobster!" Drew said, his eyes lighting up.

"To celebrate!" Becca adds, squeezing Drew's arm tightly.

"Awe, well you guys go ahead, enjoy your dinner. I'm gonna get going." I respond, giving a small smile. I give each of them a hug goodbye and head towards my car.

*20 minutes later (7:23 P.M.)*

"About time! What took you so long??" El exclaims, piling into the car.

"I'm sorry! I should've checked my notifications, I guess I got too caught up in the moment that I forgot about picking you up."

"It's okay. Just don't do it again."

"You're too soft on me."

"Sooo how did it go?"

"Welllll Drew was freaking out the whole time and didn't have anything planned, so I was forced to take him to the store just so we could get him a teddy bear. But he was nervous for no reason at all, because Becca said yes! Man, I'm telling you, this guy is a headache."
