-Kiana's POV-

We keep looking in each other's eyes as he stops playing. "That... That was beautiful." He says to me. "Thanks, but it wouldn't be beautiful without you playing the piano." I answer. "Thanks." He says while he smiles.

"I heard your argument with your parents, that sounded horrible. Are you all right?" "I'm fine. I'm sorry you heard." He says as his smile disappears. "You don't have to be sorry for that! They were the ones who were unreasonable." "Yeah, they were. But that doesn't help me, does it?" "Why were they so angry at you?" He looks at me for a moment and looks down afterwards. "They want me to take over the family company." "But, you don't want too?" "No, I don't want to spend my life sitting behind a desk in an office." "I wouldn't want to do that either..." I say to him.

"I want to be a musician, I want to be able to share my love for music with the rest of the world." He says as he smiles while thinking about it. "Well, if that is what you want to do." I say to him as he looks back at me. "Then you should do it." I continue while smiling. "I want to, but what if I fail? What do I do then? I can't just go back to my parents." "If you love what you do, then you will never fail. You can only fail if you're not happy." "You really believe that I can make it?" "Yes of course, don't you?" "I hope I will, but you haven't even heard me sing, how can you be so sure that I'm good?" "Just try it and believe in yourself." I say to him. He smiles for a moment, but his smile disappears as he looks back down after a while. "A stranger has more faith in me then my own parents, I really have the worst parents ever." "I've seen worst..." I say to myself, quiet enough so he doesn't hear it. "Are you sure you're all right?" I ask as I look at him. "I'm fine, don't worry about me, I'm a big boy." He says to me as he looks back at me. "Oh really?" I ask him smiling. "Yes, I am." He answers laughing.

"Nathan! You're early." A middle-aged man says as he walks towards us. "And who is this lovely lady?" He asks as he sees me. I smile at him as he says that while Nathan stands up and walks to the man. "I'm not early, you are. I'm always here." Nathan says to the man. "And now I know why." The man says as he smiles at Nathan. "I just met her, Eddy." Nathan says to him. "You did? You looked like you were friends... or more." He says as he looks at him.

He then walks at me while I stand up. "My name is Edmund, but you can call me 'Eddy'. That's what my nephew calls me." He says still smiling. "So you're Nathan's uncle?" I ask him to which he nods. "And what is your name?" He asks while Nathan walks towards me. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself to you!" He says to me. "I know that you can be forgetful, Nate, but how can you forget asking such a lovely lady her name?" Eddy asks Nathan. "I don't know, we were busy talking." He answers. "So, what's your name?" He asks looking at me. "It's Kiana." I answer. "That's a beautiful name." Eddy says to me. "For a beautiful woman." Nathan says with a smile. "Thanks." I answer smiling.

"But I should be going, it's getting late." I continue as I stop smiling. "Going? You can't go." Nathan says to me. "Why not?' I ask him confused. "Like you said, it's late, you can't go outside this late." He says to me. "And why not?" "It isn't safe outside at night, especially for women." He answers, sounding worried. "I can take care of myself." I say to him while crossing my arms. "I have to agree with Nate, you shouldn't be outside at night." Eddy says to me. "Then how do you expect me to go home?" I ask them annoyed. "Eddy can drive you home." Nathan says while looking at Eddy. "I can't, my car is being repaired." "Well, my car is still at home." "I'll walk." I say to them as I turn around and start walking.

"You can spend the night here!" Eddy suddenly says which makes me stop walking and turn around. "Spend the night here?" I ask him. "Yeah, I live on the second floor. You can stay in my guestroom." He answers. "What about me?" Nathan asks him. "I only have one guestroom, but I have a guest bed somewhere. You can sleep on that." "That's fine with me." Nathan answers. "But not for me! How do you expect me to just spend the night with two strangers!?" I say to them. "Come on, you can't call me a stranger. You already know more about me than most people." Nathan says as he walks closer to me. "Please, I don't want to risk you being in danger." He says as he stops when he's right in front of me. "Fine." I say annoyed. "I'll stay." "Good, come on, I'll show you the guestroom." He says with a big smile and walks away.

I look over at Eddy to see him smile at me. "This isn't funny!" I say to him. "I don't think that it's funny, I'm just smiling." He answers, still smiling. "Just smiling?" I ask him. "I haven't seen Nate this happy in while." He says as he looks at Nathan who's still walking without noticing that I'm not following him. "It's not because of me, I just met him." "You don't need to be friends to make someone happy." "If you say so..." I say as I walk away to follow Nathan.

After catching up with Nathan, he showed me the stairway that led towards the second floor. Once upstairs, I followed him to a room. The room was very basic, but looked very comfortable. "This is where you'll be staying." Nathan says to me. "I'm going to change my cloths." He says to me as I walk into the room and look around. "Okay, thanks Nathan." "You're welcome." He answers smiling before he walks out of the room and closes the door.

I take off my clothes except for my underwear and lay down in the bed. I cover myself up with the duvet and send a text to Shane to tell him that I'm not coming to them and not to worry. I receive a text back just when someone knocks on the door. "Can I come in?" I here Nathan ask. "Yes." I answer as I look at Shane's text. "One of your parents?" Nathan asks as he walks towards me. "No, my brother." I answer as I look at him. "I didn't know that you had a brother." He says to me. "I do and two sisters." I say to him. "Is he your favourite sibling? That you told him that you're staying here." "No, I just send it to him because he's always with one of my sisters and my sisters don't look at their phones as much as he does." "And your parents?" "I don't want to talk about them." "I'm sorry." "Don't be." I say to him.

We both look up when we hear the door open. "Nate, can you help me with this?" Eddy asks as he walks in with the guest bed. "You're sleeping here?" I ask Nathan. "He is, I need to get up early, this is the only place where I won't wake him up." Eddy answers in Nathan's place.

"All right, now that the bed is set up, I'm going to sleep." Eddy says after he and Nathan are finished with setting up the bed. "Goodnight." Nathan says to him as he sits down on his bed. "Goodnight and thanks for letting me stay." I say to him. "You're welcome and goodnight." Eddy says to us as he walks to the door. "I trust that you two will behave yourself." He says with a sly smile to us before leaving the room and closing the door. "Eddy!" Nathan says angry and a bit ashamed.

"I like your uncle, he's a good man." I say to Nathan. "He's amazing, he's the only family I have that cares about me." "Then you're lucky." I say to him. "Lucky? What do you mean?" He asks me confused. "That-" I start but stop when my phone rings. "It's my brother." I say to him as take my phone. "I'll let you talk." He says as he walks to a shelf while I answer my phone.

"Hello?" I say to Shane. "Why aren't you answering my text?" He says angrily to me. "You're calling me for that? I thought you needed me." I say annoyed to Shane and look up when Nathan walks to his bed and lies down with a magazine. "I needed you to answer, I was starting to think that someone killed you." "That won't happen soon, you know that I can protect myself." I answer him and see Nathan look at me. "Oh, I know that, but if something would happen then I would be the one who has to deal with Lyla." "That's right, I would not want to have her angry at me. She's bad enough to be around when she's in a normal mood." I say to him. "Yeah... Well, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight." He says to me. "Goodnight." I say before hanging up.

"That didn't sound good." Nathan says to me. "Don't worry, he just asked why didn't reply to his text." I answer as I put my phone on the nightstand next to my bed. "And why didn't you?" He asks me. "I was too busy with talking to you." I answer to which he smiles. "I'm going to sleep, goodnight." I say to him. "Goodnight." He answers as he puts the magazine on the ground and turns around so his back his facing me. I reach for the off switch of the lamp on the nightstand and turn it off.
