Chapter twenty-five

-Lyla's POV-

As Ryan is almost in front of me, Jack stops him. "Ryan, stop it! What happened to you!? Why are you doing this!?" Jack asks as he walks towards him and stops when he's in between us. "Get out of my way." Ryan says calmly to Jack. "I'm not getting out of your way! You need to tell me what happened to you!" Jack says angry to him. "Don't interfere, it's my business." Ryan answers him, still calm but with a hint of annoyance. "You want to hurt her! I can't let you do that! How could you even do that!?" Jack says to him. "Stay out of it." Ryan says to him, now clearly annoyed. "No! I won't let you hurt your own daughter!" "You're starting to annoy me." Ryan says while crossing his arms.

"What happened to you? You used to be so kind." Jack asks him. "You're so naïve. Did you really think that I ever was like that?" Ryan says to Jack which makes Jack but also his parents look shocked at Ryan. "Do you really think that I ever liked you? That I wanted to be around you? I've hated you from the moment I saw you." Ryan says to him. "B-But you were my best friend?" Jack asks with a mix of confusion and hurt. "I pretended to like you and your stupid cousin." "W-Why?" "To destroy you of course! To destroy your whole family." "Why? What did I ever do to you?" Jack asks him. "You're alive, that's what you did."

"Your father." Jack's mother says to Ryan. "Yes, my father." He answers her but keeps looking at Jack. "You're the reason, he wasn't the one who raised me!" Ryan says angrily to Jack. "So, I wanted revenge. I want to make you suffer. But, it turned out that destroying you was harder than I expected. And then Ella showed up, she was so easy to fool. So, when I heard that I would get power if I would be her mate, I made sure that I was going to be her mate." He says to Jack before looking at me. "But she came. Ella told me that when the heir gets a mate, the parents lose the title of rulers. I couldn't allow that to happen." He says as he looks back at Jack. "Now, it's time for you to die." Ryan suddenly says with an evil smile.

Just before Ryan can do anything, plants appear around Jack and pull him away from Ryan. "Rose, how wonderful." Ryan says as he looks around to find her. Suddenly plants grow around him and tighten their grip. "You've already tried that." Ryan says bored as he breaks free off her grip.

A light appears which makes us all look at it. When the light is gone, we see our aunts and uncles. "You're going to die for what you did!" Uncle Jason yells at him before changing in a tiger. "And very slowly!" Uncle James yells at him. "I've already fought with all of you, you lost." Ryan says as he changes into his powerful form. "You fought us separate, you can't win against us all." Aunt Lucinda says to him.

"Your right, I can't." Ryan says which makes us all look confused at him. "But I don't need to kill you all to achieve my goal." He says to them with a big smile before turning around and look at me. "You're not hurting the heir!" Connor says after he and my other cousins appear in front of me. "I will and there's nothing you can do about it." Ryan says, still smiling as he lifts his arm and point his hand to me. "We won't let you attack her!" Kaylee, my other cousin yells at him. "Who said I was going to attack her?" Ryan say before moving his arm to my right, pointing his hand to Alex. Before anyone can do something, Ryan fires something to Alex. "No!" I yell as I see Alex lying on the ground unconscious.

I run immediately to Alex and kneel next to him. "Good luck, recovering from that." I hear Ryan say before he teleports away. "No! Alex!" Jack yells as he, his mate and his parents come to me and Alex. "Heal him!" I yell to uncle James when he kneels down next to me. "My heir, he-" He starts but interrupt him. "Just heal him!" I yell at him. "Lyla... His heart has stopped." He says to me. "No, no, you're lying!" I say to him as I put my head on Alex's chest to hear his heart. I don't hear it. When I sit straight again, I hear Alex's mom cry and see from the corner of my eyes that Jack hugs her, trying to stay strong for her. "Lyla..." Uncle James says to me as he puts his hand on my shoulder. "No, this can't be happening!" I yell as I begin to cry. "Lyla?" Uncle James asks, now seriously worried.

Why can't I ever be happy? Why is this happening? I just want the pain to stop, is that so much to ask? "No." I say quietly. "No!" I immediately say after it, now a bit louder. "No. No. No. No. No. No." I say louder, still looking at Alex. I see Uncle step back a bit, realizing what's happening. "What's happening to her?" Shane asks him as he walks to him. The shield Ryan created must have disappeared when he teleported away. "Get back, brace yourself." Uncle says to him. "Arthur, come here." Uncle James says to his son. "What do I have to do?" Arthur asks him when he's next to his father. "Create a protecting shield around her with me." He answers him to which he nods.

When the shield is around me, I still don't react to them. "Why did we have to do that?" Arthur asks his father. "She's getting dark." "Like Ella? We need to stop her!" Uncle Jason says to him. "We can't, Ryan attacked that man for a reason. She loves him and he just took her love away from her." Uncle James replies.

"Lyla?" Kiana says worriedly to me. "No. No. No!" I yell, still not keeping my eyes of Alex. I feel the little hope I had, fade away and feel myself getting dark. I close my eyes and open them again after a moment. "Lyla... No, please fight it." Kiana says to me but I don't reply. This is the first time I show them spirit form and they immediately see it dark grey. "No!" I yell extremely loud which probably makes them all cover their ears. I see my hair turning black and see that my body begins glowing with a black glow. "Lyla, fight it! You can't be dark!" Shane yells at me, I still don't reply. "It's too late." Uncle Garrett says to Shane. "No, Lyla!" Shayna yells to me. "You can't do anything about it, we couldn't help Ella either." Uncle Jason says to her.
