-Lyla's POV-
"I'm bored." I say to Alex. "Well, what do you want to do?" He asks me. "Uh... Go to the city and find my brother." I answer him. "I'm not taking you to him." "Why not? It's like I'm a prisoner in here!" I say irritated to him. "You should be happy that we decided to bring you here, we could have put you in a prison." Jack says as he walks towards us. "Listen, either you bring me to my brother now or he'll find me. No matter what, I'll be reunited with him." "Why do you want to be with him?" The woman that is always around Jack asks. "Don't bother, mom, she won't tell you." Alex says to the woman. "If you really must know, my brother is the only one of my siblings who knows what suffering feels like." I say to them. "Suffering?" Alex asks me, clearly worried. "Yes, suffering." I answer calmly.
"What happened on Solniana? What made you like this?" Jack's father asks as he and I assume his mate walk towards us. "The past is the past, why do you care? You can't change that what happened anyway." I answer him. "No, but we want to understand the present and to do that, we need to know the past." Jack's father says. I don't reply so Alex grabs my hands. Well, I think it's Alex. "Lyla, we just want to help you, understand you." "It's just that-" I start but stop myself.
"What's wrong?" Alex asks me. "I-I..." I try to speak but I can't. "Lyla, what's happening?" "I... It... It hurts." I finally say. "Hurts? Are you in pain?" Alex says worriedly to me. "Get the doctor." I hear Jack say to someone, probably a maid. "He... He's here." I say to them. "He? Who?" Jack asks also worriedly. Suddenly my eyes feel like they're burning, so I put my hands on them. I somehow hope that that would help but it doesn't. "Make it stop! Stop it!" I suddenly yell to them. "Make what stop? What's happening!?" Alex asks me. "Stop it!" I yell as I start to cry. "What do we have to do to help you?" Alex's mom asks me. "Stop! Make it stop!" I yell.
Suddenly my eyes stop hurting and I calm down. "Lyla?" Alex asks. I slowly take my hands off my eyes and open my eyes. "Lyla, your eyes." Alex says to me, very worriedly. "They're red." Jack says also worried. "Are you alright?" Jack's mom asks me. "What happened?" I hear the doctor ask as he runs towards us. The moment he sees me, I hear him gasp. "What happened to you?" He asks worriedly.
"Lyla, say something." Alex says to me. I slowly turn my head his way, to look at him, even though I don't really know if I'm now looking at him. I slowly lift my hand his way and he immediately holds it. "Please, help me." I say to him. I know that they can clearly hear the fear in my voice but at the moment I don't care. He knows where I am, he made that very clear. Now that I don't have mom or my siblings to help me or even Serea -I shouldn't have released her!- I'm alone. I'm completely defenceless.
"We want to do that but you need to talk to us. What happened to you? Who is the person you're afraid of?" Alex says after a while. "I can't, he'll know." I answer quietly. "Then how can we help you?" He asks me, almost sounding desperate. "Nobody can help me." I say to him, suddenly calmly. "Can you take me to my bedroom?" I ask him as I take a deep breath and let all the emotion disappear from my face, just like nothing happened. "Sure." He answers, clearly disappointed.

After taking a nap, I get out of the bed and slowly make my way out of the bedroom. I stay close to the wall and hope that I don't fall over something or bump into something. "What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be asleep?" I hear Jack's father ask as he walks towards me. "I am walking and I've slept enough." I answer him as I keep walking slowly. "Where are you going?" He asks me as he follows me. "I don't know, somewhere." "Come, I know a place you'll love." He says as he suddenly grabs my arm and pulls me away from the wall. "You're not supposed to touch me." I say annoyed to him. "I know but Alex told me that you can remove the marks." "I should have never showed him that." I say annoyed to myself. "Where are we going?" I ask him soon after. "Just be patient." He says as he leads me. After a while he stops, so I stop too. "Are we on the place?" I ask him. "No, I just wanted to warn you that we're in front of the stairs." He says to me as he slowly leads me on the stairs.
