CHAPTER 1

Skyler sat on her bed reading an ancient book of Gods and Goddesses. She slowly read over the old worn out book carefully watching so she didn't miss a word. She held the book gently over her lap as she awed at the pictures and old latin words that where subscribed under the pictures. She could make out a few words and know there translation and meaning. She had many times dreamt of being a goddess and seeing the entire world from above, but most of all, she wished to see her father once again.

Skyler then gazed up at her window that sat perfectly over her head gazing at the beautiful full moon sensing its serene presence and its warm gentle light touch. She never really explain why the moon brought her so much comfort and confidence by she didn't mind it. She loved the night and felt able enough to stay up all night with out feeling tired. She's done it many times before, but her mother always insisted her to get some rest. Maybe tonight she will pull of an all nighter.

Suddenly a few knocks hit her door as she then closed the mythology book and stuffed it under her pillow as then the door slowly opened and Skyler sat still motionless as a woman with long brown wavy hair with dark eyes stood in the frame of the door. Her mocha skin appeared darker, as Skyler's dim light hit her and made her look as beautiful as a mayan princess.

"Skyler, its late you should go to bed." said the woman as Skyler gazed up at the moon and sighed,

"But its only midnight." Skyler gave her a innocent smile as she then shook her head and walked up to Skyler and sat next to her on the bed.

Skyler then crossed her legs as the woman placed her hand on Skyler's cheek and leaned forward toward her as she placed a small kiss on Skyler's cheek. Suddenly she jerked back and held up the mythology book in front of Skyler's eyes. She gave Skyler a coyly smile and said,

"Midnight or not , its a school night and you don't want to get fallen behind in your classes. Where leaving to Southern California in a few days."

"Three days to be exact." said Skyler pouting and crossing her arms in front of her chest as the woman sighed and placed her hands on Skyler's shoulder and said,

"This isn't easy for me either, but with this economy there really isn't much I can do. I wish we could stay here forever."

"Then why don't we." said Skyler with a little sadness.

The woman then looked away from her and stood up next to Skyler looking down at the mythology book. She smiled nostalgically as Skyler looked away from her as well and gazed up at the moon.

"He wouldn't want us to leave." said Skyler as the woman looked back at Skyler and noticed a tear fall down her cheek.  She then looked back at the book and look disappointingly at it.

"I know, but he would also want the best for us. I'm sorry Sky, but I've made decision. Goodnight." said the woman as she then walked out the room closing the door behind her.

Skyler then clenched her fist and her moon amulet that sat perfectly on her chest. As much as she loved her mother she knew that  she couldn't leave San Francisco. She grew up there. That was all she knew and all she wanted to know. She knew she was being selfish, but that was also the same place her father was. She wanted to be close by him at all times. Yet desperate times call for desperate measures, she just hoped that her best friend would understand.

Now the only problem left was telling her boyfriend the news. She care for him very much and leaving, felt like betraying him. She wanted to stay to be with him. They had promised that they would graduate high school together and be together forever. She knew well enough that things don't always work just by promising, but she wanted to give it a shot.

Skyler looked down at the mythology book that sat on the end of her bed and whispered the words her father had taught her in latin when she was a child,

"Obliviscar qui te numquam, Never forget who you are never."

Then Skyler looked up at the moon and watched as the moon's light reflected against her amulet and hit the glass of the window showing bright colors of pinks, blues, and greens. Watching the movement of the light colors Skyler then drifted into a deep sleep.
