CHAPTER 17
Skyler stood out of her bedroom's balcony enjoying the beach breeze. She leaned over the black cool metal railing as she slowly slid her hands on it taking in deep breaths absorbing the fresh air. She smiled at the beautiful view of the Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Monica Beach that laid just a few blocks way from where she now lived. The bright clear ocean was filled with people. From the view they looked like tiny insects covering the beach's floor. Suddenly the door of her new room slowly opened. Her mother stood next to the door frame with a trey with two glasses of lemonade and small cookies. Skyler turned around and opened the glass door that separated her room and the balcony. She entered her room and help her mother with the wooden trey.
“I thought you would be hungry.” said Skyler mother as she smiled and took a glass and a cookie.
“How do you like your new room?” she asked as Skyler bit down on her cookie.
She looked around of a moment and smiled while chewing, she swallowed and said,
“It's amazing. I really love it.”
Skyler's mother smiled as she too then looked around and said,
“Yup, it looks better in person than in the photos I saw.”
Skyler nodded as she then looked back at the balcony where she had stood and sighed.
“Why don't you go take a break and walk down to the beach. You know get to know the place a little more.”
Skyler then looked back at her mother and nodded.
“I guess I should. So I'll see you in a little while.”
She nodded as Skyler then kissed her mother on the cheek and left. She walked down the stairs that where just a few feet away from her room. As she made it down the stairs to the living room she noticed many boxes hanging out in the kitchen that sat on her right. She smiled as she then walked to the front door where sat a large wooden brown door then a black screen door. As she then stepped out to red brown colored cobble stone steps Skyler noticed people around her neighborhood where short, shorts, tank tops, and swim suits. She then looked down at her clothes and noticed she was still wearing her sweat pants and sweatshirt. She then shrugged and took off her sweatshirt and tied it around her waist. She then began to follow the kids that where walking in the direction where Pacific Coast Highway laid. Although they where walking on the opposite side from her she tried hard not to stand out, yet with the clothes she was wearing a few had to looked her way.
She then looked down at the ground as she walked, but something was telling her to keep looking up to catch something familiar. She shook the feeling as she then made it to the coast and found many people walking all around the beach. A large green sign read Santa Monica Beach, Skyler then felt a little overwhelmed as she noticed the kids she was following laughing and enjoying the sun's rays and ocean's breeze.
As she looked all around her as she made it to the sand of the beach, people where looking up at her and staring. Now she totally felt embarrassed. Suddenly a loud familiar voice surprised her. She then turned as found Sandra running toward her with a bathing suit on. Skyler was stunned as a smiled then crept up her face. Sandra then jumped to hug her as Skyler said,
