FONTS DO's AND DON'Ts ;

DISCLAIMER[ this isn't directed towards nobody, these are just simple mistakes I have notice some make on their covers. We have all done at least one of theses. This is just a guide on how to improve your placement on fonts and whatnot.]

HOW DO YOU DOWNLOAD FONTS?

to be honest, downloading fonts aren't that hard to do. I probably should of showed a tutorial on how to in my chapter where I show off the fonts I use. Anyways here it is.

FIRST OFF GET THE APP PHONTO, I BELIEVE IT IS FREE

Open up google and type dafont
Click on the first thing that shows up.

In the search bar on the website, type in whatever font you want. On the side it's going to say download. Click it and it will take you to this.

Click on open in "Phonto"

It will take to the app and on the side it will say install. From there you click on install and bam you will have some cool fonts.

ONE) MATCHING

always make sure that you choose a font that will go good with your cover. As you can see the example I have, the font has too much going on and it doesn't match with the cover at all. Simple fonts are a huge go to.

TWO) NO MORE THAN THREE FONTS

Look I know there is so many pretty fonts to choose from but really you only need two to choose from, three at least. If you choose like five fonts and they all don't go together or something, it looks cluttered. I personally prefer to do only one cursive font for part of the title and the rest a simple font. I think it looks cleaner that way. If you want a second opinion on what font to use, ask a family member or a friend.

THREE) MATCH THE AESTHETIC

This is probably my biggest pet peeve about covers. WHY HAVE A NICE BABY BLUE GREY TONE AND BAM YOUR TITLE IS HOT PINK? it makes no sense to me. It looks so out of place and sloppy. White colored fonts or black colored fonts are perfectly okay. Just please try to match the coloring of the mood of the cover.

FOUR) LONG TITLES

First off your title shouldn't be more than five words. If it is then try to shorten it. A long title doesn't look eye pleasing on a cover.

FIVE) TOO BIG TITLES

Try to have your title at a middle size. If your title is too big then it is really distracting to the reader's eyes.

(I like to say again that I have no right to tell you what you can and can't do. It's your cover and you can do whatever you please ! )
