Bottom of the Pantry Skates

This is going to be a continuation of Birthdaygiving in Good Luck so read that first.

"Here ," I handed Remus a piece of chocolate he seemed upset ,"Chocolate makes everyone feel better."

"Thank you Masie,"He laughed.

We sat in an awkward silence. "Tonks is cool" Remus said sounding a little upset.

"Yeah." I nodded my head and pursed my lips ,looking down at the table.

"Masie?" He looked towards me and I noticed the scars covering his face, the same ones that have been there since year one.

"Huh?"

"Do you ever read my mind?"

"Well at the moment I'm trying to tech myself boundaries , soo,"

"Oh," He seemed to like that answer.

I traced the wood grain of the almost empty Gryffindor table and took a sip of my drink. 

"Why did you try to set up Tonks and I ?"  

I spit out my water from shock ,"I did what?" I said trying to keep my cool. When did I do that , and more importantly why?

"At your birthday party , you told me I  should talk to Tonks."

"I did?"

"Yes."

"Is that why you have been avoiding me?"

"I- I haven't been avoiding you." Remus lied.

"Yes you have Remus , how dumb do you think I am? Never mind, don't answer that. "

"Masie , do you like me?"

"What kind of question is that? Of course I like you. I like to consider you one of my best friends."

"No Masie , do you LIKE me?"

"Oh" he caught me off guard so I just sat there looking up at him. I felt the heat rise to my cheeks instantly. The truth was that I do like Remus in that way but Tonks, would she hate me if I answered honestly? No matter what I said , someone's feelings' would get hurt. " Yes ," I mumbled not wanting to lie to someone that I cared about.

"Wait ," Remus seemed shocked and happy at the same time ,"Really?" He chirped.

"Um , yes."

His face turned red as well in a matter of seconds. The whole moment was ruined when a pesky little red head walked up to Remus and I.

"Masie!" My sister yelled.

"What?" I asked bothered by her bad timing.

"Look what Aunt Ruby sent us." She pulled two pairs of roller skates from her back.

"Holy Nut I thought we lost these." I exclaimed as I got distracted by my old blue and white skates that were tied together by tattered shoelaces.

"Nope , she found them in the bottom of the pantry." Penelope explained.

"How did they get there?" I asked noticing Remus' shocked expression left on his face.

"Remember when she took them away at the beginning of the summer?"

"Yeah."

"Well that is where she hid them and forgot about them." By this point Penelope and I were already lacing up our skates that we have been missing for a whole three months. I stood up with my sister and before we used the very missed skates I talked to Remus. "Sorry but this is very important, " I apologized.

"It's nothing to stress over, " He said forgiving me.

I gave was able to give him a peck on the cheek thanks to the added height from the skates and rolled away to catch up with Penelope.
