The cold weather was starting to settle in at Hogwarts and I was wearing a Washington Nationals sweatshirt that went down to the top of my knees. The black leggings were barely keeping my legs warm but they would have to do. I wasn't going to really bother dressing too nice for this party anyway. Why would I need to anyway , I'm sick as a dog.
Walking down the halls this late at night scared me too. And there was nothing that could fix that. I have been scared of the dark for as long as I could remember and nothing was going to stop that anytime soon. Which is why walking to Sirius' birthday party , wasn't my favorite thing in the whole world.
Of course with my luck , I heard the noise of soft footsteps behind me. I sped up my pace noting to myself to stay quiet. But , they sped up as well. I finally realized that it must be a prefect seeing as they have to make runs through the castle. I ducked behind a wall and prayed that they would just turn around. They didn't. The footsteps got slower and closer ,pausing next to the wall I was leaning against. I have never gotten caught before. Well there was a first time for everything. Before the prefect had anytime to look towards me , I pretended to be asleep. It was a genius idea with a capital J. They couldn't get mad at me if I were sleep walking. I sat down, steadied my breath, and shut my eyes hoping that I wouldn't actually fall asleep. then as if on cue, I hear the body shuffle towards me.
"Masie!" The recognizable voice whisper-yelled.
I opened one eye and looked up to see a VERY confused Remus. He wasn't on prefect duty though because he was not wearing his robes. Instead he was wearing a sweater and black pants. I decided it was safe to open up both eyes.
"Remus!" I stood up and hugged him ,glad he wasn't a prefect that would deduct house points.
"Yeah...um...why were you sleeping...here?"
"Oh, I thought you were a prefect." I confirmed as we started to walk towards the Gryffindor common room.
"I am." He looked down at me, still confused.
"But like, on patrol."
"Oh well you got lucky because I just got off duty."
I grabbed his wrist and looked at his watch. 12:17 am. "Uhg" I was exhausted which only happened when I was sick. Which I was.
"What?" Remus asked concerned.
"I'm about to die from tiredness."
"I'm pretty sure that is not a real word." He laughed as I leaned my head into his side almost positive I would fall asleep while standing. Sort of like a horse.
"Yeah yeah." I joked.
Once we entered the Gryffindor common room, the party was already started. Dani was sitting on the couch seeming as tired as I. She seemed like she didn't care that we had arrived until she noticed that we arrived together.
I almost laughed at her face of shock due to Remus and I being so close.
Well, I may have some slight explaining to do.
oops.
