"Wanna race," Penelope challenged.
"Duh," I answered fully aware of the fact that I couldn't win against her. "But , we need a ref." I rolled towards the great hall to look for someone when I ran into Dani. Oh great , she was sitting behind Remus during our whole conversation.
"Masie Rosier , just the person I wanted to talk to." Dani said sounding so proud of herself.
"Not now , I need you to do something for me." Dani nodded and I walked her into the great hall past Remus and Sirius," Stay right there and hold your arms out." I instructed then rolled back to Penelope . "First person to give Dani a high five wins." I declared while tightening my laces.
"Deal."
"Three , two , One!" I yelled and took a dash forward. Like always I started in front of my sister but that didn't last long due to roller skates being her actual life. I am convinced she loves her skates more than she loves me.
The race was neck and neck but Penelope managed to hit Dani's hand millisecnds before I could.
"You wanna try?" I questioned Dani while sitting down to untie my skates.
"How about no." She exclaimed without hesitation.

NEXT DAY
I had been slacking too much this year on gymnastics. The reason I was so determined to stay caught up with my friends back home is because it would really suck to be the only person who cant do the recent skills.
I started with the easier things like handstands. I stayed in Lilly's dorm last night because she needed someone to rant to. So here I was still listening to Lilly the next morning in the Gryffindor common room. While Lilly went on and on , I looked down at my fluffy orange pajama shorts , tracing small circles in them. Eventually , Lilly ran out of things to talk about so we just started to hang out. I walked over to a bare wall next to the couch that Lilly was reading a book on. I felt my bare hands hit the cold wooden floor and kicked my feet up against the wall , holding the handstand.
After a little while Dani walked into the common room , notebook and pen nestled under her arm. "How long has she been doing this for?" Dani asked not affected at all by my current state.
"About two minutes," Lilly announced after looking down at her watch.
My feet hit the ground and I was in a backbend ,"What!" I yelled ,lifting myself up from the backbend. "That's a new record!"
"What's a new record?" Remus walked in oblivious to what we were talking about.
"I held a handstand for, um , how long Lilly?"
"Two minutes ," Lilly replied without even looking up from what she was reading.
"Two minutes!" I exclaimed , proud f my achievement.
"Why were you doing that anyway?" Dani questioned.
"Just had to do some kind of warm up." I explained. Remus walked out of the room and into his dorm that was shared with the other marauders. The minute his door shut, Dani opened her mouth.
"Masie I NEED to talk to you." My dark haired friend pulled me into one of the empty girls' dorms and sat me down on the bed. "Remus is totally in love with you." she whisper yelled.
"Okay."
"You guys are PERFECT for each other."
"Alright."
"Are you going to do anything about it?" Dani asked , seeming a little irritated, which she was according to her thoughts.
"Um, honestly , I don't know."
"Uhhg , Masie, why are you like this?"
"Because I am. Duh."
"Why can't you just say you like someone?"
"I did, you were there."
"You know what I mean" Dani shot back. "Don't you want to be happy. Tell him you love him or ask him out-"
"Dani that's the thing," I interrupted her ,"What if I'm not here forever. What if I decide I want to go home. If he does love me , that would leave him heartbroken." I could feel the tears start to gather in my eyes.
"Masie , you aren't going to move home forever? Are you?" Dani asked while engulfing me ina hug.
"Of course not." I whispered trying to laugh. "It's just, I paused , What if?"
