Finding Remus

I walked into the kitchens to see Dani working very hard in a meal for her boyfriend ,Sirius. 

"Hey" I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall.

I can't reach the shelves. Oh it's the seagull. Has she been avoiding me?   

"I'll go get Remus he can reach the shelf" I said and skipped to the Gryffindor common room.

I walked down the halls pulling my sweater closer to me due to the weather getting cooler during the fall.

Once I entered the common room all I saw were some first years playing a game of wizards chess until conveniently, Remus walked into the room.

"how do you get in here all the time?" He asked laughing.

"Um, I have no idea but , Dani needs you in the kitchen." I pointed backwards as if the kitchens were right behind me.

"Ok why?" The tall boy said as we walked out of the painting.

"She can't reach the shelves and I can't either."

"Oh"

"Yeah"

"Well what is she doing in there?"

"Making a thank you gift for Sirius. She's planning a surprise picnic."

"Oh well she must be making a lot of food because he will inhale it" he said laughing at his own joke.

"Yeah" I tucked a loose curl behind my ear.

"So what were you planning on doing for your birthday?"

"Um, a few of my friends are throwing me a surprise party so I might go to that." I looked up at Remus expecting some kind of response.

"Oh! So you know about that now?"

"Yeah, but don't tell Dani because I'm afraid she'll beat herself up over it."

"So do yo know anything else about it?"

"Nope. Oh look here we are." We walked into the kitchen and Dani smiled when she saw us together. "Well I'm just gonna go." I tip toed out of the door and heard Dani start asking Remus for certain spices.

THE NEXT DAY

It was the next day and the whole group had already decided on spying on the two love birds using me as a translator. We all met up at a tree far from where the picnic was being held but close enough to see.

"Okay Masie we us need you to tell us what they are saying." Lily confirmed.

They started talking and I repeated their words back to the group. Sirius started to inhale the food and Remus whispered to me ,"Called it."

"Oh just shush." 

Then Dani and Sirius looked towards us and we all moved behind trees becoming invisible to them.

"Why didn't you bring the cloak James?" Lilly asked.

"I did." James corrected coming out from under his invisibility cloak.

"Everyone needs to shush." I whisper yelled trying to tap back into Sirius' mind. I stood at the front of everyone trying to figure out what they were talking about. Then it happened. Sirius and Dani turned around quickly when they heard the group shuffling around. Everyone else was already hidden and I was the only one left standing. It was too late to hide because the couple had already spotted me like a deer in the headlights.

"You have got to be kidding me." Dani muttered.

"Hey Masie, watcha doing here?" Sirius said swallowing his most recent bite of food.  

Quick come up with something , anything. "Um...I'm looking for," I turned around to find Remus being the closest person near me. "Remus, Yep." I turned to look at Dani weirdly satisfied with this answer. "Yep that's believable." I whispered congratulating myself.

"Uh-huh now why might you be looking for Remus?" Sirius asked getting suspicious.

I had to stop and think. Why does anybody look for another person? "Um , well... you see, well we are in intense game of hide and seek and he's really good at it." Nailed it.

Dani let out a laugh but Sirius interrupted it ,"Alright you can all come out now!" Once he said that the whole group started to emerge from the trees.

"Hide and seek? Really?" Remus asked.

"Well since all of you are already here, do you want some food?" Dani asked us.

"Ye-" James started to answer.

"They would not like some of my food." Sirius rudely interrupted .

"I cooked it, MY food." Dani corrected.

"I helped" Remus piped up.

"Me too." I added.

"How?" Dani questioned.

"Well if I didn't go get Remus who would've gotten everything on the high shelf."

"Okay you barely helped" Dani said. "Share." The girl sounded like my father.

"Fine" Sirius gave up.

"Dani this food is really good." Peter complimented the proud girl.

"Yes, I agree." Alice said taking a bite of her salad.

"Me too." Lilly piped in.

"Aww thank you guys , I can't take all of the credit. My chef back home taught me pretty much everything I know about cooking." The minute she finished that sentence I face palmed kowing she wanted to keep her wealthy family a secret.

"My chef?" Alice asked.

Dani looked at me with desperate eyes and I tried to think of something to do but thinking wasn't really my strong point. Instead of trying to explain herself, Dani took a glass of water and dumped it onto herself making the rest of us feel it and confusion for the girl.

"Hey guys," Dani started her confession ,"I'm rich."
