Chapter 1 - Assemble

12 year old Calum stared out the window as various houses and vehicles passed by, ignoring the older man, who introduced himself earlier as Kellin, as he explained some stuff regarding the orphanage that he was being sent on.

A few hours earlier, gunshots were heard from their household and it seems that their neighbors have called the police. Later, they found out Calum's mom sprawled out on the floor covered in blood and his dad unconscious on the floor, gun in hand while Calum was crying in fright in a corner and he refused to speak when the police officers asked him questions. And since they can't contact any of Calum's relatives, they just decided to put him in an orphanage temporarily.

Kellin held Calum's hand as they walked towards the gates of the Mystic Orphanage. Calum noticed a lot of kids his age playing around and having fun while others are staring at him curiously. He scanned the area and noticed three blonde guys looking at his direction but only one got his attention:the one with the penetrating blue eyes.

"Hello, there! You must be Calum!",a voice said and he tore his eyes away from the kids and focused on the owner of the voice.

"I'm Sarah and I'm one of the owners of this orphanage. I hope you'll make friends soon. Come here, I'll take you to your room." the woman said as she offered her hand to him and he took it.

"Kellin, thank you for bringing him here." the woman thanked the man who brought him there and they went their way towards the rooms.

CALUM'S POV

I entered the room and the blinding light from the large window made me wince. It's so bright in here and it feel so....friendly? I don't know. All I know is that I like it. I notice that there are books on one of the desks, scattered toys and other stuff on one of the bunks and clothes on the floor. Hmm, seems like I got some company here.

"This is your bunk, Calum." Sarah gestured to an empty bunk. And I placed my backpack and my duffel bag on it and sat down.

"Your roommates should be here soon but they don't know about you being in the same room-" Sarah was cut off by a loud, "I win!" and laughter as three boys came rushing into the room.

"My, my, you boys sure are energetic!" Sara exclaimed.

The three boys I saw earlier stared at me in shock and looked at the older woman.

"Aunt Sarah, why didn't you tell us about our new roommate? We didn't get to clean our room!" the green-eyed kid whined.

"This is embarrassing." the curly-haired blonde murmured as he started to pick up the scattered clothes from the floor.

"Hey, I'm sorry about the room. I promise you it's not always like this, we just, erm...we got lazy and got too excited to play so...yeah..." The blue-eyed kid said to meas he scratched his back sheepishly.

I stared at him and took in his features.

I bounced back to reality as he snapped his fingers right in front of me and all three of them were staring at me and I scanned the room and can't find the older woman anywhere.

"If you're looking for Aunt Sarah, she already left." the curly-haired kid said to me.

I nodded and stared back at them.

"Oh, she wanted me to give this to you." the curly-haired kid spoke again and gave me a plastic bag. I peered inside and spotted a hygiene kit inside along with some slippers.

"Thank you." I said.

"Oh, it speaks." the green-eyed kid grinned. "Hello, I'm Michael!" he said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
