Chapter 12 – Start
LUKE'S POV
My feet landed on solid ground with a few of my fellow vampires. I need to find Calum but I have no idea where he is. I sigh and thought of a possible solution to this.
"Hey Luke, let's go look around." Casey said.
I nodded and followed him.
After almost an hour of scanning the area, we finally came across a group of humans. We hid ourselves and observed them. Hmm, they're not doing anything. They're just lazing around, probably waiting for another command from their leader or something. Casey gave us the signal and in a matter of minutes, we all got the upperhand and killed all of them. It turned out that they were normal humans with cursed weapons and that means none of them made a contract with a demon, except for one. The leader of the group. But before she could call out her demon's name, I was already gripping her throat, ready to kill her.
"I'm gonna ask you something, human." I whispered.
She looks terrified. "N-No...P-please...Just...kill me."
I smirked. "You're gonna answer me first, human, then I'll kill you. But keep your voice down when you answer me and give my mates there a fake answer, you hear me?" I gripped her throat tighter as she struggled to breathe.
She nodded and I loosened my grip on her letting her fall to the ground, gasping for air. I crouched down in front of her and gripped her hair to make her look at me.
"Now, tell me where Calum is." I asked.
Her eyes widened. "Please, don't make me betray my comrades."
"Calum is not your comrade and I am taking him away from here. I want to keep him safe, away from all this fighting. Away from you, humans!" I said impatiently. "Now, tell me where he is!"
"I can see it in your eyes that you care for him. And please, take him away, he doesn't deserve this life. He's at the city hall, together with his squad." she responded softly.
"Where is he?" I said a little louder, making sure that my mates can hear me, making them turn their heads towards us. I nodded at the human girl in front of me.
"They're at the grandstand and they're after the Seventeenth Progenitor. Even the Sergeant Majors are there." she answered, loud enough for them to hear.
I stood up and walked back to my mates.
"Sweet. Let's go, then. To the grandstand!" Casey said, and everyone agreed.
Before any of us could utter another word, the human's voice called out "Magic Arrow!" and good thing I was able to dodge in time or else that might've killed me on the spot. Without hesitation, I unsheathed my sword and swung horizontally at her. She fell limp and she mouthed the words "Thank you." to me before her left her body.
"Woah. You really don't know what mercy is, Luke. I feel bad for her." one of our mates said. I ignored him and sheathed my sword back.
"Let's go." Casey said.
"I'm not coming with you, guys."
Casey looked at me, waiting for an answer.
"We can't trust what she was saying, you know how humans are. I need to scan another area and I'll contact you if I find something." I answered.
"Ok, sure. You sure you're going alone?" he asked again.
I nodded. "I'll be fine."
"Okay."
