Chapter 7 – Ascendance

CALUM'S POV

"L-Luke?" I stared in shock. Oh my god, seriously? My eyes are not playing tricks on me, right? I can hear Michael and Ashton behind and judging from their voices they're as shock as I am.

Luke stared back at me in shock as well. Tears started to well up in my eyes, as did his.

"L-Luke, is that really you?" I whispered as I bit back a sob.

Luke was too shocked to answer me as he transferred his gaze to me, Michael, Ashton then back to me.

LUKE'S POV

To say that I was shocked would be an understatement. The love of my life who thought that I'm already dead was right in front of me with my other best friends. Ah shit, now they're gonna think that I just saved the vampire who turned me into a vampire.

"Heyah, Lucas, thanks for saving me." Zach said.

"I didn't save you. Don't get your hopes up, Zach. I just saved the other Nobles the trouble of cleaning up after you." I responded as I glared at him.

"Harsh. You never change, Lucas. Right, Calum?" Zach directed his gave from me towards Calum. I looked over at Calum.

"Calum." I smiled softly.

"I don't understand, Luke. What...What is happening?" he asked me, begging for answers.

Everyone was silent as they all stared between me and Calum. I'm guessing that most of everyone here knows the story about what happened to me and Calum.

"Cal...I'll explain everything soon, I promise. I'm sorry it took me this long to show myself to you. I didn't even know that you're gonna show up here. But I'm glad you did. I have something very important that I need to tell you, Cal. You too, Michael and Ashton."I looked at each of them straight in the eyes.

And before any of them can say another word, the sound of choppers coming near us caused us all to look up and our eyes widened as more Nobles started to come down. Shit, this wasn't part of the plan. I acted on my own and ran towards Calum and held him my arms bridal style as I leaped to the opposite direction signalling Ashton and Michael to follow but they didn't. I sighed and just continued to leap away from them.

"Luke! What are you doing?" Calum asked.

"I'm taking you away from there, more Nobles are coming." I answered simply.

"Yeah, but Ashton and Michael are still there! So are my other comrades!" He retorted.

I didn't respond as I continued to take him away from all the commotion. A loud explosion caused Calum to gasp and struggle in my arms and I held him even tighter.

"What the fuck, Luke, let me go!"

"No."

"LUKE! I SAID LET ME GO! MY COMRADES ARE IN TROUBLE!" And he slapped me across the face causing my grip on him to loosen and before I knew it he was heading back towards his comrades.

I stopped him by standing in front of him. "Calum, stop."

"No, Luke. You should stop 'cause my comrades needs me!" Calum raised his voice as he glared at me and continued heading towards them.

I held his shoulders. "Calum, they're not your comrades! They're just using you!" I told him but he still didn't listen and tried to push my hands away from his shoulders but I only tightened my grip on them and he kept trying.

"Damn it, Luke, I said let me go!"

"No, Calum. You are not going back there!"
